Earlier this month, families and students filled the Oak Point halls for the school's annual art show, and Dr. Case was in attendance. Fifth graders Donnie Evans and Yair Chavez, who are members of the Oak Point Student Council, took the mayor on a tour. Since Student Council gives Donnie and Yair opportunities to highlight Oak Point to the wider community, which is also a key part of his own role, Dr. Case suggested that someday the students too could be mayor. Well done, Donnie and Yair!

Earlier this year, Forest Hills Elementary students performed acts of kindness to raise money for their “Kindness-a-Thon.” To celebrate the successful fundraiser, Eagles were rewarded this month with a challenging and fun-filled obstacle course brought right to the soccer fields! From balancing on beams to swinging on rings and climbing up rock walls, students were excited to see their kindness rewarded. Great work, Eagles, in setting an example for how to treat others!

Congratulations to EPHS 12th graders Gwendolyn Glasrud, Kotono Kazama, Syon Shetty and Alexander Wycoff, who were recently named winners of $2,500 National Merit Scholarships! These amazing students were selected from more than 15,000 finalists nationwide based on their academic achievements, leadership, school and community involvement, essays and recommendations. Well done, Eagles! We are so proud of all you have accomplished and can’t wait to see what you do next.
Out of the 57 schools selected nationwide, Eagle Heights was the only school in Minnesota to receive this recognition. Late last month, a number of teams from the two schools competed to answer tough math problems and walked away winners. Prairie View fifth graders won three of the top four team spots, including first place! Congratulations to Prairie View fifth grader Saanvi Patwardhan for winning second place in the facts round and Prairie View fourth grader Khiem Nguyen for winning second place in the individual rounds. Eden Lake had a strong showing as well, with two fifth-place finishes in the fluency round: fourth grader Ryan Zhou and fifth grader Matilda Case (plus other great achievements!). Great work, Eagles!
