In the last months I went a bit on a journey.
I wanted to explore the subject of lightness of being through the wonderful movements of dancers.
So I started studying different poses of dancers, made hundreds of sketches (maybe only a slight exaggeration but I swear I did a ton of them), I tried to imitate the movements myself, danced a lot in my living room wondering what lightness of being actually means to me.
For me, lightness of being is our natural state as human beings.
It has just been overlooked, overcrowded with mental noise and things and material stuff. In short: with everything that our capitalist society tells us is worthwhile.
But the lightness is always there, just underneath all the clutter.
The lightness is there in the midst of the dance of life and duality: between the good and bad, the high and low, the old and the new, the fragile and the strong.
And it has been/is still a delight for me to explore this subject in ever fresh ways. The dancers also helped me a good bit to get through this though and grey winter. I guess we made it through now- Happy Easter!

For me, it was never like that.
I feel like if I would need to stop making art, I wouldnât really feel this way.
For me, itâs like a deep longing.
Itâs an urge, but itâs very gentle.
Itâs not coming from a pain but from a deep love that emerges and that wants to be expressed.
Itâs the absolute love and wonder of creation and the process.
Itâs like doing alchemy.
An urge that makes me pick up a pencil or a brush whenever I can.
An urge that fills me with joy and excitement whenever I can create, or when I see others create or when I see an artwork that touches me.
Itâs so beautiful and at the same time utterly mysterious.
And my whole being is in love with it.
