We leaned into an arena-style spotlight as a hard backlight which gave us that gritty, dramatic edge while creating visual interest in a space. Lighting a garage is all problem-solving. Youāre shaping light around things you cant move or control, finding the angles that make it feel intentional.
We brought in the F400r LED mat to wrap the light around our talent. Just enough fill to pull the subject out without killing the mood the backlight was building.
Sometimes the best-looking setups come from the hardest rooms to light.

I had about 15 minutes to talk about my own life with Type 1 Diabetes, my philosophy around it all as well as and it felt like I hadnāt even scratched the surface. This video was one of multiple near death experiences š
After all was said and done, invited me on to the Risely Podcast where I got to share so much more. Itāll be out on Tuesday (March 10th), I havenāt really done this before, so itās probably the most Iāve shared about my own life on the internet! Lol

I brought one camera with me and it was the FX3. I wanted to keep my load light on the motorbike and even though itās deemed a cinema camera, Iād say it can take some pretty darn solid photos! Also paired it with the VNDās with the Helix MagLock system.
Each of these photos has a story behind it, and the beauty of a visual medium is that I get transported back each time I view them. Iād ask people if I can take a photo of them and theyād get all shy with the biggest smile and then say it was okay. I learned how to say āyou look beautifulā in Vietnamese so that I could reassure people when they felt self conscious (like we all do). Seeing the look on someoneās face, especially in rural parts, when I show them a photo of themselves is such a fun part of traveling for me.
Hereās to the vast landscapes and different regions of Vietnam that I will most definitely be visiting again!

Thereās so much I want to share from here, but for now, here are a few moments, faces and landscapes that I had the pleasure of riding through and getting to experience.

A lot of the good was overshadowed by loss and change. Relationships ending, losing friends I cared about deeply, moving again, and not feeling settled for the 9 months prior.
When I actually took the time to reflect, I realized how many meaningful things happened & how many incredible people I have in my life.
I went backcountry snowboarding, dog sledding, & watched the northern lights dance in the Arctic while filming a documentary that means more to me than anything, alongside people I deeply respect, ty
I made new friends in Toronto while filming for and had the chance to interview and befriend and many other generous, thoughtful people.
I taught workshops and spoke in front of hundreds of people, something I had always feared, and discovered itās something I genuinely enjoy and want to do more of. Iām grateful to those who pushed me.
Iāve been able to tell stories that I believe will make the world better, alongside friends and collaborators I truly love.
I rode motorcycles solo through Vietnam, ate more food than I thought possible in Japan, and spent time in the blue water paradise of Sicily.
I leaned on people in ways I never would have before, went deep emotionally, and became more honest with myself than ever. That took me to dark places, both painful and necessary, and itās something Iām proud of.
Chapters closed. Tears were shed. New chapters began. Thatās the beauty of this strange experience we call life. I often judge a year by money or output, but so much more matters.
The biggest lesson this year was simple, the people and community in our lives are everything. None of this is worth doing without those we get to share it with.
I felt a bit rushed, didnāt get to stay in any area for more than one night.
It was literally drive during the day, find a place to sleep and eat, wake up, pack up the bike and do it all over again.
It was unbelievably beautiful, and I 100% will be going back (maybe for the warmer season).
But one of the things I love most about traveling is getting to spend time in one place, meeting people, experiencing the different aspects of culture within a country.
And that becomes extremely difficult when youāre on the go.
Traveled with the duffle and 35L camera backpack, and boy did those bags endure all of the elements. Canāt recommend them enough.
