Here’s the truth nobody tells you: interior designers’ own homes are almost always last. We’re chasing client deadlines, juggling deliveries, choosing fabrics for someone else’s sectional while ours sits in the same configuration we set up in 2022. There’s never time. There’s never budget. There’s always a more urgent room.
But I’m done waiting.
In this series, I’m refreshing my living room one piece at a time. Part 1: the gray chairs. They were dragging the whole room into a “stuck in 2018” feeling. So they’re out — and brown linen swivels are in. Warmer. More collected. Made to handle real life with a toddler.
Next up: the rug. Then the coffee table. Then the shelves.
Designer at home, finally getting around to the one room that’s mine.

What most people miss when choosing a countertop edge:
The edge isn’t just a finishing detail — it sets the architectural intent of the entire kitchen. Pick the wrong one and even the most beautiful slab feels off.
A few rules I follow:
1. Match the edge to the cabinet style. Ogee with traditional inset cabinetry. Mitered with flat slab modern. The edge should never contradict the cabinetry.
2. Heavy veining = simple edge. If your stone is doing the work (Calacatta, dramatic Carrara), let it. A bold edge competes.
3. Waterfall doubles your material cost. It’s stunning, but plan for it — you’re buying enough stone to wrap the side of the island.
4. Chiseled is gorgeous but porous. Embrace it on rustic kitchens, but know the sealing schedule.
5. Eased is the safest default — but safe isn’t always right. If you’re investing in stone, the edge deserves a real choice.
A small detail that defines an entire kitchen.

I live in Austin, TX now, but I grew up in Dorado, Puerto Rico — which probably explains my love for warmth, natural light, and spaces that feel relaxed and sun-soaked.
Fun fact: I didn’t go to design school… I went to law school. But design has always been part of my story. My parents flipped homes for a living, and we moved 38 times by the time I was 18. Looking back, that constant change shaped how I see spaces — not just how they look, but how they feel.

At home, I’m a mom to a 1.5-year-old boy, James, and wife to the best human, Chris Price 🤍 This season of life is full, messy, beautiful, and grounding in ways I never expected.
In my “free time” (if that exists), I’m usually making small home improvements, restyling corners of our house, and sharing the process here — because creating a home is never really finished.
I joke that I have whatever the opposite of ADD is — more like intense hyperfocus. It’s helped me build and create in big ways, and also taught me the importance of slowing down.

Funny story: the striking green fireplace was originally just a placeholder in the renderings. I didn’t want the wall to feel empty during the presentation, so I added this bold green marble moment — not actually expecting to build it.
Fast-forward to 2025 — the clients couldn’t envision that wall any other way, so here we are!
What looks like marble is actually porcelain, wrapped floor-to-ceiling across a dramatic 19-foot wall. Minimalist but bold, warm but modern — it anchors the room with a quiet confidence, without relying on traditional ornamentation.
