This is why I’m so passionate about oral health 🙏
What this research confirms is that the relationship between RA and periodontal disease runs in both directions..

Gum disease creates an inflammatory environment that can worsen autoimmune activity, and the systemic inflammation from RA accelerates the progression of gum disease. Each condition amplifies the other.

This is why oral microbiome diversity matters so much. A balanced, thriving oral microbiome helps regulate inflammation rather than contribute to it, and building that diversity comes down to a few key things: a diet rich in whole, unprocessed foods, probiotic-rich foods that support a healthy microbial environment, and a targeted oral probiotic like Orasana chewable probiotics, which are specifically designed to restore and maintain the bacterial balance in your mouth.

Your mouth and your immune system are in constant conversation. Supporting one supports the other.

Fluoride isn’t the only ingredient worth questioning. Many conventional oral care products contain chemicals that wouldn’t meet the standard we’d hold for anything else we put in our bodies daily, and yet we put them in our mouths twice a day without a second thought.

This is why I’m so passionate about what goes into your oral care routine. A hydroxyapatite-based tooth powder remineralizes enamel, reduces sensitivity and supports your oral microbiome without any of the ingredients that raise these questions.

For the tooth powder I personally use and recommend, comment “TOOTH POWDER” below and I’ll send you all the details.

I recorded this episode because one of the biggest questions I get is…

why do some people not fully heal after cavitation surgery?

The answer is rarely just the procedure itself. Healing depends on how well the body is prepared beforehand.

In this episode, I walk through what actually supports recovery… from lymphatic flow and nutrition to nervous system regulation and self-care.

We talk about:
• why healing is a partnership between patient and practitioner
• how the lymphatic system impacts recovery
• what your body needs nutritionally to repair tissue
• the role of stress and the nervous system in healing

If you’re considering cavitation surgery, or preparing for it, this is essential to understand.

When I was 14 years old, growing up in Romania, my dentist gave me a root canal, and I lived with it for years without a second thought.

It wasn’t until after periodontist school that I started noticing something was quietly wrong. My gums were always bleeding, my energy was disappearing, and I was getting headaches I couldn’t explain. Every test said I was fine, but I knew I wasn’t. My intuition kept pulling me back to that tooth.

So I made the decision to have it removed and an implant placed. My digestion improved almost immediately. The heart palpitations I’d been quietly living with disappeared.

I was sleeping better, thinking more clearly, and finally feeling like myself again after years of wondering why I couldn’t.

That tooth was the missing piece, and finding that answer is the reason I became an integrative periodontist. I never want another person to spend years feeling sick without knowing their mouth could hold the answer.

If something feels off and you haven’t been able to pinpoint why, your mouth may be worth looking at.

Comment “CONSULT” below and I’ll send you details on booking a virtual appointment with me.

If you have an autoimmune condition and you’re considering a dental implant, the material your implant is made from matters more than most dentists will tell you.

Recent studies have found that titanium can worsen autoimmune conditions including Sjögren’s syndrome, rheumatoid arthritis and fibromyalgia.

For people who are already dealing with systemic inflammation, introducing a metal implant into the body can add fuel to a fire that’s already burning.

Ceramic implants are a biocompatible alternative that work beautifully for sensitive patients, integrating with the body without the inflammatory response that titanium can trigger in certain individuals.

Every dental decision is a whole-body decision, and for someone managing an autoimmune condition, that couldn’t be more true!

Oil pulling has become incredibly popular… but does it actually work?

In this episode, I break down the science behind oil pulling, where it can be helpful, and where it falls short.

While it may support your oral routine, it does NOT replace brushing and flossing, especially when it comes to proper plaque removal and maintaining a healthy oral microbiome.

We also talk about:
• what the research actually shows
• why plaque between the teeth matters most
• water flossing vs traditional methods
• how to use oil pulling correctly (if you choose to include it)

The goal isn’t to follow trends… it’s to understand what truly supports your health.

What most people don’t know is that a chronically clenched jaw isn’t just uncomfortable... It’s connected to headaches, disrupted sleep, neck pain, ear pressure and even changes in how your teeth meet over time.

The jaw has a profound relationship with your nervous system, and when it’s locked in a state of tension, your whole body feels it.

Releasing the jaw doesn’t have to be complicated. In today’s reel I’m sharing three of my favorite exercises for letting go of that tension, starting with something as accessible as your breath.

Give them a try and let me know which one made the biggest difference for you.

When the nerve is gone, you can no longer feel pain in that tooth. So when an infection develops or spreads, your body has no way of alerting you that something is wrong.

The tooth is now dead. But the bacteria? Still very much alive.

These bacteria can quietly multiply inside the tooth for years, leaking toxins into your bloodstream without you ever knowing.

No pain doesn’t mean no problem.

This is why so many patients come to me after years of mysterious symptoms like chronic fatigue, brain fog, headaches, and inflammation. They had no idea their root canal was the source because it never hurt.

If you have a root canal and have been feeling off, it might be time to dig deeper.

Dr. Sanda
A root canal doesn’t actually “rot in your head,” but a treated tooth can fail and develop serious problems if
bacteria get back inside. Here’s how this happens:

During a root canal, your dentist removes infected pulp (the soft tissue inside your tooth containing nerves and blood vessels). But when the tooth isn’t cleaned or sealed properly, tiny gaps can allow bacteria to seep back into the root canals. This is one of the most common reasons for failure.

This then causes bacteria to get inside the root canal, seep into the bloodstream, and cause a serious stealth infection known as a cavitation.
