🇬🇧 dRMM have been working on a student housing project in Potsdam, 30km south-west of Berlin, following a competition win in 2022. Tomorrow’s groundbreaking ceremony marks a milestone for the scheme, which has been designed by dRMM Studio Berlin, with the tender and construction phases being carried out in collaboration with ZRS Architekten.

The project is being developed and realised by ProPotsdam GmbH for the Student Services Organisation West:Brandenburg and is partially financed through funding from the State of Brandenburg.

The development will create a future-oriented ensemble that caters for the needs of student living with high-quality urban, architectural, and ecological aspects; not merely a place to live, but a base for an open and vibrant neighbourhood that promotes community, supports sustainable lifestyles, and contributes a strong identity to the area.

Construction is scheduled to begin tomorrow, with project completion planned for early 2029.

In two weeks, on Thursday 28 May, we will be hosting ‘From Forest to Frame: Bio-Based Building for Climate-Neutral Growth’ at Neues Schleiermacherhaus in  central Berlin.

Neues Schleiermacherhaus is our first completed project in Germany and reimagines a once-standing 18th-century building in modern bio-based materials.

The event will bring together experts from architecture, construction, forestry, finance, and policy across the entire value chain, from forest to building. There’ll  be talks, informal conversations and a documentary screening followed by drinks and a guided building tour.

Big congratulations to Kallum Lightfoot on passing his RIBA Part 3 - an incredible achievement and the start of an exciting new chapter as a qualified architect.

Kallum is an invaluable member of the dRMM team; switching between different workstages and project scales, his knowledge spans from timber construction and Passivhaus to large scale residential schemes. Best of all he is our Biodiversity Net Gain oracle!
We’re so proud to be one of the two project winners for the Pineapples Community Engagement Award: Homes with our Tustin Estate project.

During the submission and presentation process, we highlighted real impacts which took place as result of the work the team have been doing with residents over the past five years. The decision to retain or rebuild, the relocation strategy to minimise impact on residents, and the selection of the design team itself sat alongside more straightforward elements such as brick types, interior colour palettes and wayfinding solutions.

So thank you to the residents who invested themselves in the process, our client Southwark Council, project development partner Bouygues UK, the dRMM-led design team - Adam Khan Architects, JA Projects, McCloy + Muchemwa and Exterior Architecture, community consultants Urban Symbiotics and and for highlighting the work which goes on behind the scenes.

Our consultation is still active, with the next session happening today. Phase One of the Tustin Estate project has been delivered, but Phase Two is ongoing, as are the monthly sessions which continue to involve the residents in decisions that affect them.

Every Wednesday at 4-5pm from 15 April until 3 June, the Regents Park Estate North design team - dRMM and - will be leading a series of relaxed wellbeing walks around the Regent’s Park Estate and local area.

Each walk explores a different theme: from discovering trees through their leaves and bark, to exploring local open spaces and sharing what you love (or don’t) to help shape future designs. You can follow the Estate Story Trail, dive into the area’s rich history and heritage, or get creative on a photography walk focusing on light, contrast, and framing. Nature lovers can enjoy spotting birds, flowers, and plants (with a fun bingo twist), while families can take part in a playful treasure hunt for children. There’s also a sensory walk, encouraging you to experience the environment through sight, sound, touch, smell, and even taste.

🇬🇧 We’ve been working for Evangelischen Kitaverband Mitte-West Berlin, on a retrofit and expansion project transforming a 1950s concrete-frame building in Berlin.

Central to the project is collaboration with the community. We’ve worked closely with the Client, staff, parents, and – most importantly – the children themselves.

A series of workshops with the youngest users has been particularly inspiring: children helped shape the proposals, shared their ideas, and brought infectious enthusiasm to the project. Their input has been a driving force in refining our designs, ensuring the space works for the people who use it every day.

As part of the Woolwich Urban Regeneration Framework (URF) we took part in the some ongoing work taking place in the Royal Borough of Greenwich.

Recently, we spent a day volunteering at the monthly Community Kitchen with

Community Kitchen offers a free, warm meal to residents, while unused ingredients were distributed for people to take home. Our team joined regular volunteers in preparing food, serving meals, and chatting with attendees, creating an informal setting that helped reduce social isolation while supporting those facing financial pressures.

These conversations provided valuable insights into how local people use the town centre, what they feel is missing, and what they hope for Woolwich’s future.
This regular gathering demonstrated the importance of informal, low‑cost, everyday social spaces - consistent activity can have a more lasting impact than larger, one‑off events.

Through continued collaboration with local organisations, businesses, and residents, the dRMM team is working to ensure the URF reflects community priorities, and that the framework’s benefits are felt long after delivery.

V&A Dundee opens Maggie’s: Architecture That Cares - an exhibition celebrating 30 years of Maggie’s cancer care centres and the power of inspiring buildings

dRMM’s Maggie’s Oldham is featured as part of the display, with images and a model of the centre which opened in 2017. A proponent of the Architecture of Hope, the use of wood in the building is part of a bigger design intention to reverse the norms of hospital architecture, where institutionalised environments can leave patients dispirited.

The exhibition brings the ideas behind all the to life through the voices of visitors, staff and the architects who designed the buildings. Featuring over 20 architectural models, newly commissioned film and interviews, material samples, photography and sketches, Open now at the V&A Dundee until 1 November 2026.

Hounslow Council has approved the housing-led redevelopment of GlaxoSmithKline’s former west London HQ, submitted by developers Hadley Property Group.

Plans were drawn up by a multi-disciplinary team led by Haworth Tompkins, with dRMM, Metropolitan Workshop and Studio Egret West for 980 Great West Road. The vision is to create a truly mixed-use development; an integrated live and work ‘campus’.

dRMM’s three plots, on the east of the masterplan, will provide creative workspace and community uses alongside well over 200 homes as part of the wider site housing ambition.

Across the 13-acre site, 61% of which is dedicated to public realm, the approved plans deliver around 2,300 homes and 300,000 sq ft of commercial, community and educational space. The reuse-first strategy retains the basement, substructure and original tower of the GSK buildings, saving more than 34,500 tonnes of embodied carbon and demonstrating the impact retrofit can have at scale.

We’re pleased to announce that the consortium of dRMM and have been successful in our bid to design the Angler-/ Heimeranstraße quarter development in Munich. We’ll be working with client and construction contractor.
