Are specific lab tests important when you are concerned for an autoimmune disease?

Yes! Please talk to your rheumatologist about what tests need to be done to evaluate your condition.

It was my honor to join for such an amazing energizing workout last week. I have followed Denise’s journey of encouraging and empowering women to stay fit, motivated and happy for years. As I’ve gotten older, I realize the importance of moving, staying fit and flexible for improving physical, emotional and mental health. I convey this to my arthritis and autoimmune patients as well. It is important to just move even if a little a day and stay active for cardiovascular and musculoskeletal/joint health.

Thank you to for my fabulous shoes and allowing me to be a part of this event and speak about the benefits of good footwear including solid arch support.

A week ago I completed my 8th women’s half marathon in NYC.
It meant so much to me. Last year I sprained both of my ankles a week before the race and couldn’t run and during the year I was faced with a few challenges which dampened my spirit a bit.i questioned myself, my strength and grit.
After the new year started, I approached my training differently by being more consistent but also changing things up with more jump roping, yoga and strength training.
I also told myself to not compare my results to the other years I had run and to just be my best self for this race.
I really wanted to enjoy the ride this time without pressure to beat my previous times.
I met up with friends who cheered for me and started the race with my friend from Medschool and her daughter. I soaked in the cheers from the supportive crowds. The ultimate gift was being surprised by my daughter on mile 11 as she ran with me and encouraged me. I’ll never forget the smile on her face as she tapped my shoulder and hugged me and then ran with me a little bit.
I missed my goal by 2 minutes but I didn’t care because I committed and did it!

Stay in your lane and don’t worry about anyone else.
Challenge yourself but also have fun.
Be consistent and set goals.
Enjoy the journey and the people who join you.
