If this was not corrected, the crowding and deep bite would have continued to worsen as he grew. This can lead to uneven tooth wear, difficulty cleaning the teeth, higher risk of cavities and gum problems, jaw discomfort, and more complicated treatment later in life!
We started treatment by placing braces on his upper teeth first to create space and reduce the deep bite. After that, we bonded lower braces to continue aligning his teeth and bite.
Throughout treatment, we used different wires, elastics, advanced bite correction techniques, and detailed finishing adjustments to improve both the function and appearance of his smile. We also performed gingival contouring to enhance the final smile aesthetics and improve gum symmetry.
His treatment took about 32 months total, and regular visits were only every 6 to 8 weeks.
He did an amazing job throughout treatment, and his final result turned out incredible! His smile is now straight, balanced, healthier, and functioning properly. ✅

This patient of mine had a “gummy smile,” where excess gum tissue covered too much of thier teeth. As part of their orthodontic treatment, we performed a gingivectomy to help reshape the gums and improve the balance of their smile.

That’s why TMJ issues can feel like:

If this was not addressed, the adult tooth would have stayed where it was located. It also could have damaged nearby teeth, made crowding worse, and caused bigger bite problems later. Problems like this are often harder to fix the longer they wait.
We started with upper braces to make space for the canine for about 8 months. Next, we worked with the oral surgeon to remove the baby tooth and uncover the adult tooth so we could guide it into place. Then we continued braces treatment for about another 23 months to straighten her teeth and correct her bite.
Once everything looked right, we finished the small details, removed the braces, and gave retainers to protect her new smile. ✅
Her treatment took just over 2 years. Regular visits were only about every 8 weeks!
I am very proud of her commitment during treatment. She stayed consistent, followed directions, and trusted the process. Her smile and bite turned out beautifully. 🙌
