🥦🍟 The more we say “Don’t eat junk food”… the more interesting it becomes!

What if the problem isn’t the food… but the way we talk about it?

When we label foods as “good” and “bad,” children often begin to:
❌ Crave the “bad” foods even more.
❌ Feel guilty after eating them.
❌ Think healthy foods are a punishment.

Instead, try food neutrality.

🍎 Fruits and vegetables help our body grow stronger.
🍚 Rice gives us energy.
🍫 Chocolates are tasty treats that we can enjoy occasionally.

No food needs to become a forbidden fruit.

Our goal is not to raise children who fear food.
Our goal is to raise children who know how to enjoy all foods with balance.

❤️ Build a healthy relationship with food, not just healthy eating habits.

⚠️ What if ur child eats the “DO NOT EAT” Silica gel packet!”

This is one of the most panic-inducing calls parents make.

The good news?

In most cases, the silica gel packets found inside shoe boxes, medicine bottles and packaged food products are not poisonous. They are desiccants that help keep products dry.

The biggest concern is usually choking, especially if the packet or beads are swallowed by a young child.

🚨 Seek immediate medical attention if your child:
• Is choking or has difficulty breathing
• Has persistent vomiting
• Develops unusual symptoms
• Or if you’re unsure whether it was actually a silica gel packet or another type of desiccant.

Remember, not every packet labelled “DO NOT EAT” is dangerous because it is poisonous. Sometimes, the warning is there because it isn’t food and could be a choking hazard.

❤️ A calm parent makes better decisions than a panicked one.

Share this with every parent—you never know who might need this reassurance today.

This video is dedicated to the mom 👩 who was literally in tears when she spoke to me regarding her exclusively breastfed 🤱 infant 👶 who had all symptoms related to Cow Milk Protein Allergy.

🥛 Sometimes, the solution isn’t changing the baby’s milk… it’s changing the mother’s diet.

In a small group of exclusively breastfed babies, cow’s milk protein consumed by the mother can pass into breast milk and trigger Cow’s Milk Protein Allergy (CMPA).

These babies may present with:
👶 Blood or mucus in stools
🤢 Frequent vomiting or reflux
😣 Excessive crying and irritability
📉 Poor weight gain
🌿 Eczema or persistent skin rashes

When CMPA is suspected, a strict maternal elimination of dairy products, under the guidance of a pediatrician, can lead to remarkable improvement in many babies.

⚠️ This does not mean every fussy baby or every baby with colic has CMPA. It is an uncommon diagnosis and should not be self-diagnosed.

Please don’t stop breastfeeding. In most cases, breastfeeding can and should be continued, while the mother follows an appropriate elimination diet if advised.

❤️ The right diagnosis can make a world of difference—for both the baby and the mother.

🩺 High blood pressure is not just an adult problem. Children can have it too.

One of the simplest yet most important parts of a child’s health check-up is measuring blood pressure.

The surprising part?

Most children with high blood pressure do not have any symptoms. The only way to detect it is to measure it.

✅ Current recommendations advise that all children aged 3 years and above should have their blood pressure checked at least once every year during routine health visits.

A raised blood pressure may sometimes be associated with kidney disease, heart disease, obesity or certain hormonal conditions. Early detection allows timely evaluation and appropriate treatment.

It takes less than a minute to check.

But that one minute could make a lifetime of difference.

🩺 Height, weight, vaccination status… and blood pressure. Every child’s annual health check-up should include all four.

👶 “Doctor… my child has a lump in the neck. Is it something serious?”

This is one of the most common concerns I hear from parents.

The good news? ❤️

In most children, a small, pea-sized lymph node in the neck is completely normal, especially after a cold, sore throat or other common infections. It is simply a sign that your child’s immune system is doing its job.

What matters is not just the presence of a lymph node, but its size, consistency, location and whether it continues to grow.

🚩 Please consult your pediatrician if the swelling:
• Keeps increasing in size
• Becomes hard or fixed
• Appears above the collar bone
• Is associated with prolonged fever, weight loss or night sweats

Remember, not every lump is dangerous—but every persistent or concerning lump deserves a proper medical evaluation.

As parents, don’t panic… but don’t ignore it either.

❤️ Reassurance and timely evaluation—that’s the key.

📅 Today - June 28 - is Pulse Polio Day! 💧

If your child is below 5 years of age, please take them to the nearest Pulse Polio booth and get the two drops of polio vaccine today.

A few important reminders:

✅ Even if your child has received all routine polio vaccines, Pulse Polio drops are still recommended.

✅ Even if your baby received polio drops at birth, today’s Pulse Polio dose should still be given.

✅ Mild fever, cold, cough or antibiotics are not reasons to skip the vaccine.

India has remained polio-free because millions of parents have participated in Pulse Polio campaigns year after year. Let’s continue that success together.

💧 Two drops today… a polio-free tomorrow.

Please remind your family, friends and neighbours too. Every child counts. ❤️

🥄 Does the “two spoon trick” really help babies stand without support?

It’s a fun trend to watch… but please don’t use it to judge your baby’s development.

Every baby develops at their own pace.

Some babies may briefly stand with a little distraction or motivation. Others may not. Both can be completely normal.

What matters is steady progress over time, not whether a viral trick “works.”

Instead of asking,
“Can my baby do this trick?”

Ask,
“Is my baby achieving developmental milestones appropriate for their age?”

If you have any concerns about your baby’s development, don’t rely on social media trends. Speak to your pediatrician for a proper developmental assessment.

❤️ Celebrate progress, not pressure.

👶 Is your baby crying continuously for no obvious reason?

One of the commonest reasons parents miss is an ear infection (Acute Otitis Media).

A baby with an ear infection may:
👂 Cry inconsolably, especially at night
🤱 Feed poorly or stop feeding midway
😴 Have disturbed sleep
🤒 Develop fever
👂 Pull or rub the ears (not always)

Ear infections often follow a common cold because the infection can spread to the middle ear through the Eustachian tube.

The good news?

With early diagnosis and appropriate treatment, most children recover completely.

So if your baby’s crying feels unusual, prolonged or difficult to console, don’t ignore it. Sometimes the problem isn’t in the tummy… it’s in the ears.

❤️ A baby’s cry is their way of saying, “Something isn’t right.” Let’s listen.

👨‍👧‍👦 Happy Father’s Day ❤️

When a baby is born, everyone asks:

👩 “How is the mother doing?”

And rightly so.

But very few ask:

👨 “How is the father doing?”

Becoming a father brings joy, excitement, responsibility, sleepless nights, self-doubt, financial worries and sometimes even anxiety.

Yes, paternal postpartum anxiety and depression are real.

The good news?

Most dads figure it out one diaper, one sleepless night and one cuddle at a time 😊

And while some countries offer generous paternity leave, the most important thing a child needs is not a perfect father…

❤️ Just a present father.

To all the dads who are trying, learning, making mistakes, showing up every day and loving their children in their own way…

Happy Father’s Day.
