While the residency pathway is the most common, the ’s alternate pathway recognizes the achievements of accomplished radiologists trained abroad. As workforce challenges persist, integrating more IMGs is seen as essential to expanding the pool of competent specialists.
Despite debates about “brain drain” and practice standards, flexible licensure pathways are gaining momentum, with multiple states enacting legislation to lower barriers for talented physicians.

📌 Key takeaway:
Non-contrast MRI is a highly accurate and safe imaging modality for suspected acute appendicitis during pregnancy and should be considered the standard second-line imaging method after inconclusive ultrasound.
