Once upon a time, women were told not to lift.
Turns out… that was a fairy tale:
❌ Wait until puberty
❌ Don’t lift heavy
❌ You’ll get bulky
❌ It’s too risky
❌ Not during pregnancy
❌ Unsafe for older women
The science says otherwise.
Resistance training builds Strengthspan—the capacity to stay strong, resilient, and independent across the lifespan. From girls to pregnant women to older adults, properly prescribed resistance exercise is safe, effective, and essential.

Strength isn’t just about today—it’s about building, maintaining, and protecting capacity across the lifespan.
In our recent article, we introduce the Female Strengthspan framework:
🔹 Start Strong in childhood by developing strength reserves and resistance training literacy
🔹 Be Strong in adulthood by optimizing health, function, and performance
🔹 Stay Strong in later life by preserving independence, resilience, and quality of life
when women train for strength early and consistently, the curve changes.
Strength becomes a lifelong asset

We’re excited to share our latest study on the reporting quality of hypopressive exercise interventions in clinical research! 📖💪
🔍 In this systematic review of randomized controlled trials, we evaluated how well hypopressive exercise interventions are described in clinical studies — including breathing and postural techniques widely used for therapeutic purposes.
📊 Key Highlights:
• We reviewed 14 RCTs with 782 participants to assess how completely authors reported HE protocols (using TIDieR & CERT checklists)
• Reporting was suboptimal, especially for intervention details like tailoring, progression, and delivery — which are essential for replicability and clinical translation.
• Around one-third of studies had a high risk of bias, showing the need for better transparency and methodological rigor in hypopressive research.
📌 Why it matters:
Good intervention reporting is critical for clinicians, researchers, and patients to understand what was done, how, and why — and to translate research into practice with confidence.

Too many children today are growing up weaker, less active, and less confident in their movement skills. Our triad published in Current Sports Medicine Reports introduces a powerful framework to understand why and what we can do about it.
🔺 The Pediatric Inactivity Triad includes three interconnected conditions:
1️⃣ Exercise Deficit Disorder – not meeting ≥60 min/day of moderate–vigorous activity
2️⃣ Pediatric Dynapenia – low strength & power limiting movement competence
3️⃣ Physical Illiteracy – lack of confidence, motivation, and skill to move well
When these three occur together, they create a risky pathway toward preventable physical, psychosocial, and cognitive health challenges. The solution isn’t simply “move more”, children need structured, engaging, strength-building, skill-building opportunities that help them enjoy movement again.

Our latest article in the British Journal of Sports Medicine introduces a powerful new concept Strengthspan: the continuum of muscular strength across the lifespan.
🧒🏽👩🏾🦱👨🏼🦳 From childhood to old age, maintaining and developing strength isn’t just about lifting weights: it’s about building health, independence, and vitality at every age.
Strengthspan = Stronger bodies, stronger lives
1️⃣ Greater strengthspan → greater strength reserve
2️⃣ Greater strengthspan → better health and well-being
3️⃣ Greater strengthspan → more function and independence
4️⃣ Greater strengthspan → longer lifespan
Let’s redefine what it means to age well starting with how we move, lift, and live every day.
