Although the industry claims UVA is harmless, tanning beds actually deliver similar UVB levels and 10–15× more UVA than the sun, enough to cause deep DNA mutations.
Dermatologists see a striking pattern: young tanning bed users, with no family history, developing multiple melanomas on body sites that rarely see the sun, a presentation resembling familial melanoma, where many melanocytes are at risk.
Even more concerning: young heavy users can have more skin mutations than people nearly twice their age.
And the idea of a “pre-vacation tan” for protection? ❌ False. Indoor tanning increases mutation burden, especially in skin that normally wouldn’t be damaged by the sun.
A tan is not protection. It’s DNA damage.

With your lips inside the bottle tip while drinking, humidity will disturb your skin barrier. Over time, this will lead to dryness and eczema.
Doctors and patients will often look for causes of the eczema or allergy in your skin care products, make up or food. All of these can cause eczema. But sometimes the problem is simply your reusable bottle of water.
When that is the case, even if you use the right treatment for your eczema. It will not be completely cured and will keep coming back.
💡 The fix: Drop the water bottle and go back to a regular cup to drink water. Or at least, make sure your lips aren’t completely emerged in water when you are drinking.
👉 Clue to spot the pattern:
* Only your upper lip inside the bottle tip? Expect eczema on the upper lip.
* Both lips inside? Both will likely be affected.
Keep in mind: there are multiple reasons or irritant that cause lip dermatitis. This is just one of the causes and might not apply to you.
