It’s because letting go doesn’t feel safe.
Most of us were trained to be capable, reliable, and self-sufficient — not supported.
So when life gets full, the nervous system defaults to overfunctioning, even when help is available.
That’s the part most delegation advice misses.
This framework comes from how we break this pattern down inside Med Flow Yoga — including conversations that surface in our live Q&As.
We don’t treat delegation as a productivity skill.
We teach it as a nervous-system skill: • reduce uncertainty • create structure • make letting go feel safer
If you’re ready to stop the overfunctioning cycle and want the step-by-step framework we use:
👉 Comment “DELEGATE” and I’ll send it your way.
If you teach yoga or work clinically, you’ve seen this over and over:
❌ Limited overhead motion
❌ Compensation creeping in
❌ Cueing that doesn’t seem to land
That’s because this isn’t a cueing problem.
And it’s not solved by more regressions or repetitions.
🫣When the true limiter isn’t addressed first, overhead work just reinforces compensation and irritation over time.
If you want the framework we use to recognize and retrain this pattern with more clarity and confidence:
👇 Comment “LAT” and I’ll send it to you.
They start with how we sequence.
When we load bodies before preparing them,
the nervous system does what it’s designed to do:
find a way to move — even if it’s not the safest one.
That’s not a strength issue.
It’s a sequencing issue.
Inside MFY, we use a clinical framework adapted from rehabilitation science to prevent this:
🌱 Mobilize — remove restrictions
🔥 Activate — build control
🌊 Integrate — load patterns safely
This is the difference between classes that feel good
and classes that actually create long-term progress.
In a recent mentorship Q&A, we audited a well-known YouTube yoga flow using this framework and the gaps surprised even experienced teachers.
If you want to see the exact sequence we rebuilt during that audit:
👇 Comment FLOW and I’ll send it to you.
Most teachers and clinicians don’t struggle with motivation…
they struggle with clarity.
Clarity about what they want.
Clarity about the skills they need.
Clarity about how to move from where they are → where they want to be.
A few years ago, I went deep into the research on how people actually achieve goals (not just set them), and I built my entire MFY framework around one technique:
Reverse Engineering.
It’s simple and life-changing:
1️⃣ Start with your 3-year vision
2️⃣ Set 1-year goals aligned with that vision
3️⃣ Break them into a 90-day project
4️⃣ Choose weekly actions that make progress predictable
If you want the exact worksheet we use inside MFY to map this out…
I’m sharing it for free.
✨ Comment GOALS below and I’ll send it to you.
Here’s to a more intentional, aligned, confident 2026. 🙏🏼
But here’s the problem:
👉 Alignment doesn’t fix dysfunction.
Not when the wrong muscles are doing the work.
And especially not when no one teaches you how to assess what’s really going on.
Because if you’ve ever cued someone 10 different ways and nothing changes…
It’s probably not their form.
It’s compensation.
Trying to fix a pose without understanding the movement behind it?
❌ That’s how dysfunction turns into injury.
How we fix it (without the overwhelm):
✅ Step 1: Spot what’s actually doing the work
✅ Step 2: Help them feel the difference
✅ Step 3: Modify with purpose — not guesswork
We teach this inside Med Flow Yoga.
And on average, our clients reduce injury risk by 30% in just 3 sessions.
Want to see it in action?
👇Comment “CASE STUDY” and I’ll send you a real Downward Dog breakdown we use in the program.
(for yoga teachers & clinicians who want steady clients — and real impact)
This is a hallmark sign of compassion fatigue — and it hits yoga teachers and clinicians hard.
Follow our 10-second reset (in post above) backed by neuroscience to help you stay grounded without absorbing someone else’s stress.
⚠️ When we absorb, the brain activates threat circuits (aka burnout city).
❤️🩹 When we stay compassionate with boundaries, it lights up caregiving and reward centers instead.
Use this reset next time you feel overwhelmed — and let it support your longevity in the work.

After posting about Warrior I a few days ago, I wanted to offer a suggestion for those who are struggling to let go of one of the most foundational poses taught in the industry.
I want you to start observing your students as they are walking into your classes and around the studio.
One of the easiest assessments is to watch their feet as they are walking. It’s usually a dead giveaway if they’ve been sitting at a desk all day or if they have hip flexor limitations.
Look for a toe out gait pattern. Where instead of the toes facing forward, they are are pointing out 20-30deg as they walk. It is a strong indicator that there are hip flexor limitations and hip restrictions present.
This is where it becomes vital to implement neutral hip extension poses such as Crescent Lunge into your sequencing and why traditional postures such as Warrior I, not only limit student progress but reinforce negative movement patterns that increase their likelihood of injury.
While you can adjust Warrior I with a shortened stance to decrease injury DURING the pose, it still INCREASES their risk of injury OFF the mat in their daily life.
In contrast, Crescent Lunge taught with a microbend in the back knee will help neutralize hip extension, improve posterior hip mobility, lengthen deep hip external rotators, improve hip internal rotation and reduce clinical risk of low back pain.
With great honor and respect to the ancient practice of yoga, they just didn’t have the imaging and knowledge we have today to get every posture 100% right. Like with any practice/study, we need to continuously honor research and update the practices that serve us to the highest potential.
It all comes down to the mindset…
❌ Do you want students to master a pose that doesn’t serve them functionally?
Or
✅ Do you want them to restore lost mobility and improve physical function in all other aspects of their life?
#medflowyoga #researchbasedyoga #advancedyogateachertraining
There is no better rehabilitative medicine in my experience than a well structured yoga class. 💯
It offers tremendous opportunities to restore lost mobility and function while tapping into the incredible mental benefits as well.
However, the opposite is also true. A poorly structured class with outdated alignment principles will perpetuate injury both ON and OFF the mat. ❌
The mindset shift that I encourage you to have as a teacher is to realize this huge responsibility and potential you have.
It’s not about preventing injuries IN your class. It’s about preventing injuries WITH your classes. 🫶

That’s why I recommend these 5 swaps to keep your students safe and progressing in their practice. 🙌🏼
It’s not about difficulty, but about aligning movement with our natural anatomy for longevity and success in yoga. 💪🏼
