The patient presented with concerns about the colour, shape and proportions of their teeth. She also felt that her smile appeared narrow and reported difficulty finding a comfortable and stable bite.
Treatment began with ‘deprogramming’ which uses a little device behind the front teeth, to help identify a reproducible jaw position and evaluate the patient’s bite. A bonded mock-up which is an acrylic material attached to the teeth, was then created, allowing the proposed design to be trialled in the mouth before any definitive treatment commenced. Over several weeks, adjustments were made to the shape, length and contours until the patient was comfortable proceeding.
The final treatment consisted of 22 porcelain restorations, using a combination of veneers and veneerlays. Veneerlays extend onto the biting surface of the tooth, allowing both aesthetic and functional changes to be incorporated into the treatment plan while maintaining a conservative approach.
A custom night guard was provided following completion of treatment.
