For some, this is a regular occurrence, and nothing special but for us it was BIG.
Yes, it was a very short trail.
Yes, we had to hold Katie and Madison’s hands to keep them from throwing themselves down the cliffs.
Yes, we got some scraped knees and dirt everywhere.
But we did it.
We didn’t have to wear them in backpacks/slings, and no one seriously injured themselves and for us that’s a HUGE win.
I just wanted to celebrate that with my friends and family on here today.

I’m not minimizing the grief that parents of people with disabilities go through- for us, it comes in waves and usually at moments where you don’t expect it.
I’m not minimizing that at all- there is a grief that comes with missing milestones, hard seasons, and the “what if’s”.
There is also great beauty to be found.
Sometimes it can be helpful to step back, take a deep breath, and realize that our kids didn’t come with a preconceived idea of what their life would be like- they are just enjoying the world they live in!
