Fun fact: there are no paved roads on the island, and many locals get around by golf cart or wheelbarrow! It’s also home to the famous Dinghy Dock Pub — Canada’s only floating pub. A full walk around the island is about 4–5 km with beautiful ocean views almost the entire way.

Azu and I explored sections of the old concrete water pipeline that once carried water to Victoria, with mossy forest views, narrow paths, bridges, and steep drop-offs along the route.
This trail can be very dangerous in places, especially when wet. Some sections are slippery, uneven, unmaintained, and close to cliffs or ravines, so extra caution is definitely needed. The CRD has also warned that parts of the flowline corridor are considered hazardous and not actively maintained.
If you visit, wear proper footwear, avoid risky edges, and take your time out there.

This short forest hike leads to a series of smooth rock formations, rushing waterfalls, and deep crystal-clear pools carved out by the river over thousands of years. In the summer, it’s a popular place to cool off, explore the rocks, or simply relax and enjoy the sound of the water.
The trail is fairly short and easy, but the rocks around the bowls can be slippery, especially near the water, so good footwear is recommended. Whether you’re visiting for a swim, photos, or just a peaceful nature walk, the China Bowls are definitely worth adding to your Vancouver Island adventure list.

This popular hike is especially impressive after rainfall when the waterfall is at full force. The trail can be steep and muddy in sections, so good footwear is recommended. Along the way you’ll also find classic Goldstream scenery including moss-covered forest, rushing creeks, and plenty of photo opportunities.
A great adventure just outside Victoria for hikers, photographers, and nature lovers looking to explore one of the island’s hidden gems.

Chemainus became famous for its mural revitalization project in the 1980s and now features dozens of large murals and sculptures telling the story of the town’s coastal and logging history #explorevancouverisland #nearmevictoria #explorebc.
It’s a great quick stop if you’re travelling between Victoria and Nanaimo, and the trail is fairly easy with lots of peaceful west coast vibes along the way. Keep an eye out for towering cedars, ferns, rushing creek views, and plenty of spots for photos along the trail.
