1. Adoption fees - Simple and straight forward. All boys are 250 and all girls are 350. This money is used to cover vetting costs like vaccinations, testing, spay and neutering. Does it cover everything we do? Nope. But for now, I am ok using my own money to cover the difference most of the time. Sometimes I also have amazing friends who help fundraise for me when we have special cases, like pumpkin and her kidney. If you are in Korea, this is the final cost.
But what if you are overseas in the US?
2. Flight Fees-
With a Flight volunteer = this is someone who is already going to the US on Korean Air or Asiana and has a ticket already. They agree to take the dog with them. The airline sets the fee so have to pay either 300 or 600 depending on the weight of the dog and crate. You can't pick a date and have to wait till we get a volunteer. Thus why we can only fly to certain cities.
3. Transport - the price to get someone (usually Nani) to take the dog to Incheon, check the dog in, and make sure all the paperwork is in order. The whole process usually takes around 5 to 6 hours. So gas, tolls, and paperwork = 175
4. Crates - this price depends on the size of the dog. A small dog like a maltese would be 50, a corgi or jindo (corgis are small but long bodies) would be 75, and over 20kg is usually either 100 or 125. You keep the crate. But dog needs a crate to fly
5. Customs Broker - this is the fee we have to pay to a broker in america to legally import dogs. We again have no choice as Customs requires it. So again, this fee is set by the brokers which is $225.
