A piece of WWII history resting at 38 m on the sandy seabed off St. Julian’s.
On March 17, 1943, this RAF Beaufighter suffered mechanical failure shortly after takeoff and was forced to ditch into the Mediterranean. Both crew members survived. Today, almost 80 years later, the aircraft still rests on the bottom, with its wings, fuselage, engines, landing gear and one propeller remarkably recognizable.

Also known as Pez Luna, these juveniles come close to the Basque coast and visit cleaning stations, where cleaner fish remove parasites from their skin.

Every summer, ocean sunfish arrive along the Cantabrian coast, following the seasonal productivity of the Bay of Biscay.
From late August into September, encounters can be especially good, with water temperatures around 16°C. Larger individuals are often seen earlier in the summer, around June and July.
These pelagic fish travel long distances through the Atlantic, moving north in spring and summer and returning south as waters cool. The rich waters of the Bay of Biscay provide important feeding grounds, while cleaning stations give them the opportunity to have parasites and dead skin removed by cleaner fish.
Their reproductive strategy is just as extraordinary — a single female can produce hundreds of millions of eggs.
