Are you a big fan of ramen? Then you cannot miss a visit to Nishiki Edinburgh if you’re in the city.
Located in Morrison Street is a cosy, laid-back space serving proper Japanese comfort food made in the traditional way.
It offers an all-day dining menu built around sharing plates and authentic Japanese flavours. The kitchen is led by Chef-owner Max Wang.
We tried their crispy chicken gyozas, salmon and tuna sashimi, takoyaki and of course: their ramen, which was absolutely incredible, full of flavour and very filling, we loved it!
All I can say now is that we will be definitely coming back. The space is tastefully decorated, and the food was incredible - even my 10 year old son was impressed.

They offer a variety of tours, although I would recommend their Gold Tour.
With your knowledgeable guide, you will learn about the origins, the art of whisky making and maturation in a fully immersive whisky experience, before learning about the whisky regions in Scotland - where you will travel south, north and west of the country and learn about all Scotland has to offer and how the landscape has such an impact in the final product.
You will meet some interesting characters along the way and of course, you will be treated to a dram… or 5!
The first one, you choose depending on your favourite region, and you will have it inside the largest whisky collection - where you will be surrounded by almost 4000 bottles of whisky!
At the end of the tour, you will be able to choose your other 4 drams, and you get to keep your glass as a souvenir.
I visited during the Distillers’ Fair back in December, where we got to talk to the experts from the distilleries themselves!
I can say that as an Edinburgh local, I have visited The Scotch Whisky Experience several times, I always recommend it and will definitely be back!
