Firstly Hi, thanks for being here, Iām Lilli, Iām 27 and I am an artist living and working in the beautiful Scottish highlands šļø
Iāve been running Discover and Draw for 4 years mainly on a part time bases, Iāve never solely worked and relied on it Iāve always had other work (for financial reasons gotta pay them bills sadly) but for the last year and bit that works been freelance and art / creative work which has been amazing. Previously it was cafe and retail work so itās amazing to spend all my time being creative in some way now š
The biggest things Iāve learnt through running my business is passion is most important everything else follows, you have to work really freakinā hard for very little reward for a long time. Slow and steady really does win the race, slow growth is good growth - this was a hard one to wrap my head around especially with social media and how easily you can fall into a trap of comparison. And just how important it is to document your journey so you can look back and remind yourself of how far youāve come and to make sure you celebrate the little wins along the way š
Without trying to sound dramatic this business, moving to the Scottish Highlands, the people Iāve met that now call neighbours and living amongst this beautiful landscapes really did have the most incredible impact on my mental health and the dark space I was in in London and I donāt think I will ever get bored or uninspired by it, itās hard to recognise that person I was in the city now but Iām really proud of the artist Iāve become here and the lovely life I get to live š thanks for reading š
