So, ai is mostly problematic and I use it sparingly. I've gone through cycles of skeptically experimenting with it, completely rejecting it from my life, and passionately trying to learn more about it. Currently, I have lots of moral qualms around it and try to reserve it for shotplanning and enhancing my work in small ways. It's also having an influence on leaning into imperfection and handmade qualities in my work, to rebel against it.
When and I showed up at this house in the Outer Sunset, the owners had *just* gotten home. They were super friendly about letting us shoot in front of their adorable house. But – no shade to their vehicle – the modern shiny car was kind of a vibe killer. And as you can see, I used gen-fill in Photoshop to restore a more retro atmosphere.
What do you think? How are you feeling about ai as a creative tool? I'm inclined to say some ai-based companies aren't as destructive as others, but that's probably naïve. I'm also wondering how I'll feel looking back on this post in 10 years, or even 5.
