1. Sunny days made for walking.
Not beach weather, but so many days are perfect for long hikes, coastal paths, and being outside without heat.
2. Winter Markets.
Farmers’ markets are full of greens, winter vegetables, avocados and citrus.
3. Air that feels incredible.
Sea air mixed with pine forest. Enjoyed during quiet picnics by the water, even in a jacket.
4. Winter storms.
The sea turns soooo turquoise, restless and powerful. Storms can be upsetting during the swimming season, but in the winter you are not missing out on beach days but gaining the most picturesque moments.
5. Space.
No tourist crowds. Empty paths, quiet ancient sites, places feel lived in rather than visited.

The figure we now call Santa is inspired by St. Nicholas, a 4th-century Christian bishop known for his generosity and kindness, especially toward children and those in need.
He was born in Patara, an ancient Lycian port city whose ruins now stretch across huge sandy beach (incredible dunes) and impressive Roman structures you can still explore today.
He later became the bishop of Myra (today’s Demre) where the St. Nicholas Church stands atop the site linked to his life and legacy, with Byzantine architecture, frescoes, tombs, and museum displays.
Just off the coast near Fethiye is Gemiler Island (once called St. Nicholas Island), an island with early Byzantine church ruins and tombs believed to have been an important site connected to his memory.

This house and family was our absolute blessing. There was no way we could afford a villa around here, and also we didn’t need anything luxurious. We are simple people, who needed somewhere to live until we sort out our off grid system and finish at least the plumbing and electric in the house.
We weren’t new to the village (it has been already 5 years here) but we have never lived so close to someone. Village houses always have a garden in between. But this time we literally shared our lives, this family was living downstairs and we took over the top floor.
Was it easy? This set up was very new for us. So it took time to get used to this colourful life. But look at these people yaaa ♥️ And how many things I’ve learned from them. Every time they were doing something, they called me to have a look and try ♥️
