Would you believe these are THREE DOLLAR chocolate bars!?

So last week on the vlog (link in bio!) I covered 's brand new snack bar line, which at $2.99 over on are some of the cheapest bean to bar chocolate items I've ever seen. And tasty!

Like the coconut popped rice is *the* best riff on a Crunch bar I've had in bean to bar chocolate. (You know how hard it is to get the balance of rice to chocolate? It's so delicate! Though this is definitely more a Coconut Crunch bar, don't care, it's tasty.)

Also honestly I've been... having trouble figuring out what to post here? I'm releasing YouTube videos every Saturday at 5 now, and sometimes I'm trying stuff for the sheer joy of trying things. And it doesn't always match with what this content has been? And I get stuck? Do you ever get that feeling?

(This is why I like Stories, I can post bark photos when I'm stuck.)

Don't get me wrong, you're all amazing, it's just this disconnect I'm working through. And I'm still working through a lot of exhaustion related stuff, so it's one step at a time - or one chocolate at a time?

PS. Happy Passover, Ramadan, and Easter to those celebrating!

How's that for a sundae snack?

I've been having cajeta with my ice cream a lot as a treat when I'm editing, especially since I just got a new jar of cajeta! It's just really lovely and so caramelly, with that goaty-grassy tang. And this tiny sundae also includes vanilla and the last of the nibs. And bananas, because I had them and it reminded me of the banana and dulce de leche empanadita I got with at. Simpler times for sure.

This was an amusing one to shoot in that I was so, so worried about the shoot beforehand. I was low on bowls, then I didn't like the bowls I had, then I wasn't liking how the bananas sat, then I wasn't liking how the *camera* sat. Just one big pile of 'is this even going to work?' And then I saw the finished sundae and didn't want to keep going it was so cute!

Also it was photogenic even when I dumped this all into a larger bowl for snacking.

What's your favorite sundae?

Today's treats are green with delight!

Over on YouTube I'm covering, a Japanese snack subscription box focusing on highlighting regional artisans. (Link in the bio and all that good stuff!) And here are some of my faves from the set!

Best of all, these treats are all tea treats! We've got a sakura dacquoise and *two* types of matcha cookie. Though to be honest I found myself wanting a whole box of the dacquoise for a tea party! That's a delicate sakura flavored filling in between two tender cookies that had a texture similar to ladyfingers, with that barely crisp exterior and tender interior. You want to be on your fanciest behavior with that kind of treat!

(Wow, now I want to make a Charlotte cake with them. Filling ideas, anyone?)

What kind of tea or tea snacks are your favorite?

P.S. Is it just me or has IG felt... really quiet? Like I know I'm posting late to match when the video goes live, but even in the morning it hasn't felt the same.

Ever had CAMEL MILK chocolate?

So released this limited edition 61% camel milk bar only in Brazil - so imagine my surprise when I saw ChefShop had some!

I had Mission's 61% cow dark milk at home as well, so I've got a taste test video posted up on YouTube, but I've got to say I love how different they are!

The camel milk is far more classically snacky, sweeter with caramel and red fruit. The cow milk is more dark and deep, a snacking chocolate for those who adore 70%+ bars. And both are just so fun!

Want more details? You'll have to say hi on YouTube! Link is in my bio!

(ChefShop also got their hands on the Mission Puerto Rico bar, the announcement just went up for that today! Get that chocolate!)
Happy pi(e) day!

I'm a huge key lime pie geek, so when I found out had her own version I got it pretty much as soon as I could. And I'm glad I did!

It's a super tart rendition of the classic, from that bright-tart lime curd filling to a sprinkling of extra zest on top, all on a graham cracker crust. If you like your pies to go bold, this tiny pie packs a ton of citrus goodness!

(Also I picked this lovely treat up from, a great local farm delivery group! Highly recommend checking them out if you're in the Seattle area and want to shop local!)

How are you celebrating?

Don’t go breakin’ my (caramel) heart!

This is the tea and cookies heart, a limited edition treat that I am so hoping they bring back because it’s just so tasty! (Maybe as a smaller confection? It’d be fun to get this as a bite-sized heart!) We’re talking Darjeeling caramel, cookie butter, dark chocolate. It’s basically a super refined candy bar with floral notes, soft caramel, and a lovely gentle crunch.

Also this caramel needs to be sold on its own by the JAR. It's just buttery, strongly Darjeeling tea scented, floral, and bold and I want it over vanilla ice cream *yesterday*.

Also I got this as part of the Friends of Fruition pack, more on that coming up, but did anyone else end up joining the membership?

What’s your favorite kind of caramel?
For Danish butter cookies, are you team sewing kit or bake your own?

Over on the vlog today I'm covering Danish butter cookies, or as we knew from most of our childhoods, sewing kits only with cookies inside. But I also really got into baking my own!

These are from a half batch of 's recipe, topped with melted medallions and nibs, because of course I was going to add chocolate in here. I could see going sweeter, like a 60%, but chocolate and buttery vanilla cookies and crunchy nibs all together? Yes!

(Also I really recommend making a half batch unless you're sharing, it makes a lot of cookies!)

The sewing kit cookies are from Danisa, who you can learn more about on YouTube! Link is in the bio!

P.S. is doing a bunch of efforts to help Ukraine, including consolidating info on mutual aid. I'm going to try and keep this place a chill distraction, but I still will post info when I find things.
A bite of chocolate sunshine!

So during the pandemic I’ve been subscribed to 's subscription service. It’s been fun to see what Lan and Brian have been getting up to! They always take such care with their bars down to the smallest details and it just makes me happy seeing them grow as a brand. And there’s been such a fun range of more intense/eclectic flavors like ume, and then more classic like this Kanoka orange.

It’s a 72% Kokoa Kamili with candied Kanoka orange peels. The orange is bright and tart and chewy and just pops against the earthy, fudgy, marshmallowy notes of the chocolate. It’s like eating a super fancy whack-an-orange! (I will say the marshmallow-berry finish gets a bit hidden if you’re not eating the bar without the orange, but sometimes you just want orange snacking chocolate dangit.)

My only wish is that it had more orange peels per piece, because it’s such a fun combination! It’s a small joy for the week and I’m glad I got to try it.

How are you finding small joys this week?

A cake so tasty I had to sneak a bite first! (Or three!)

Today over on YouTube I’m reviewing! Kouklet is a Brazilian bakery based in Philadelphia (with nationwide shipping through ) who makes bolo de rolo, a Brazilian cake that’s like the ultimate thin layered Swiss cake roll. And those layers are filled here with guava jam!

It’s almost like eating a guava candy in cake form! The layers meld together so you have the bright, tart-sweet tropical boldness of the jam against the softness of the cake! It’s so good! (Though the pao de mel, or gingerbread, was the star for me, but it’s not nearly as photogenic. That and I ate it too fast.)

Curious about more? You’ll have to check out the video!

P.S. Also I hope everyone can take time for two acts of care today if you're up for it: one for yourself and one for your community. Which can include both Ukrainian charities and makers and friends, and also Russian folks in your communities who are hurting and frustrated by their country's decision. I stand with Ukraine and also hope everyone is able to take care of their mental health right now.

P.P.S. This was an interesting photo as I considered hiding the evidence of not having patience, but honestly I kind of prefer it this way? It just felt off with the closer crop.

Which dumpling would get your heart?

So both AND had takes on chocolate dumplings this year - so of course I got both for the unexpected (and awesome) battle of the Canadian Chocolate Dumplings!

made chocolate pirogi, a tender chocolate ‘dough’ filled with tart strawberry jam and topped with more chocolate. This meant I could have chocolate covered strawberries this year even with my raw strawberry allergy! And they’re just really fun to eat!

made dark chocolate dumplings filled with a fluffy and super tart raspberry ganache. While closer to a classic confection than Vaka’s dumpling, the ganache is so wonderfully bold! It's a really well made raspberry treat with gorgeously contrasting flavors!

Honestly, the true winner of this ‘battle’ is me - because they’re both so tasty! I love that Vaka managed to make a dough so delicate, and Soma a ganache so bold, and I really want them both back again already! And I hope you managed to get some before they sold out? (If not, they both have amazing chocolate treats all year round!)

How are you celebrating Valentine’s / Galentine’s Day?
