We’re seeing this trend show up especially in seating - sofas, stools, and accent chairs with softer silhouettes and more generous proportions. Deep cushions, curved forms, and comfort-first designs are becoming the new standard.
After years of minimal, structured furniture, people are craving comfort and ease. Furniture that invites you to sink in and actually use the space the way it was intended.
If you’re thinking about bringing this into your own space, start with one piece. A chunky chair or sculptural sofa can feel like a big commitment, but when balanced with lighter elements around it, it becomes a beautiful anchor rather than something overwhelming.

Brynn:
This season has felt more like fall than spring in many ways, but two exciting residential projects in Alberta are budding to life full force - and it feels so energizing!
David:
This month was all about collaboration for me. With my projects in varying phases, I had an opportunity to pause, jump in to support other designers on their projects, and take in what everyone around me was working on. It's exciting to get a big picture view of all the work going on, and to appreciate the creativity & ingenuity of our team!
Mel:
For me, this month was a time of transition and new beginnings into a new place. “The beginning is the most important part of the work” — Plato

Despite April's unpredictable mix of sunshine and snow, my mind is officially on summer! Among a handful of really exciting projects, the warm weather has me extra excited to be working on a stunning cottage renovation at Lake of the Woods. This past month has been a wonderful whirlwind of sketching, drafting, on-site visits and coffee shop meetings. I’m hoping May allows us to move our creative sessions out to the patio soon!

Pulls and knobs might seem subtle, but they have a big impact on how a space feels. They’re one of the most tactile moments in a home. Something you interact with every day, which makes it deeply personal.
From finish to shape to weight in your hand, we choose them carefully so they feel like an extension of the space itself, not just an add-on.
We've featured hardware from a few different projects, which one's your favourite? Let us know!👇

💡 Natural light: how it enters a space, moves throughout the day, and is layered with artificial lighting has a huge impact on the overall mood.
📐 Then there’s spatial configuration: proportions, scale, ceiling height, and how everything is arranged. Does the space feel balanced? Is movement intuitive? Does it make sense without you having to think about it?
When these two elements are done well, everything else falls into place. The space feels natural, easy, and grounded.

Spa-inspired undertones were incorporated throughout to emphasize the relaxing environment and help calm the nerves of patients. We integrated fresh, clean, and minimal features, which include several nods to nature: using poured tile in aquamarine colour tones resembling water, as well as a lush and dense greenery wall behind the front desk.
Even the architectural details play a role. The bulkhead above the main desk reinforces the shape of the desk and magnifies the goal of limited stimulation for guests, in order to feel the tranquility of the environment (less stimulation, less anxiety!).

We’re not going to lie, squeezing it into three clips was tough. 😅 There’s so much that happens in between (decisions, revisions, site visits), all leading to that final, photo-ready moment.
But here’s a good glimpse into how it all comes together!

Lighting is no longer an afterthought, it’s a statement. We’re seeing a shift toward sculptural fixtures, layered lighting plans, and pieces that act like jewellery for the room.
It’s functional, yes, but also expressive, intentional, and a key part of the overall design story.

From cool greys to warm, earthy tones.
From rose gold to aged metals.
From terrazzo and bold geometrics to natural stone, soft shapes, and layered texture.
The biggest change we’ve noticed? It’s become less about trends and more about feeling. This, we love!
Which of these would you bring back?
