Morgen ist der “Día de la Candelaria”, das ist ein wichtiger mexikanischer Feiertag mit religiösem und kulturellem Hintergrund. Er erinnert an die Darstellung Jesu im Tempel und die Reinigung der Jungfrau Maria, 40 Tage nach Weihnachten.
Typische Traditionen sind:
* Das Segnen der Jesuskind-Figur (Niño Dios) in der Kirche
* Das Anziehen neuer Kleidung für das Jesuskind
* Die Segnung von Kerzen (candelas) für Schutz und Gebet
