I’m extremely proud of this one.
Less than two months ago, I was in the emergency room and ended up spending four days in the hospital for the first time in my adult life. I had no idea how serious my anemia had become, and I wasn’t sure if I’d be able to run today at all.
Training after that was far from perfect. I ran a half marathon in August, two weeks after getting out of the hospital, and somehow PBed everything through 21K. But this marathon still felt uncertain right up until the end.
Today was a celebration of my health, being able to run, and of being alive.
I started the day with three friends and finished it with, who ran the entire marathon with me. I didn’t listen to music once. We just took in the crowds, the sunshine, the city, and the energy of Berlin for 42.2 kilometres.
It was such a beautiful day, and I feel incredibly grateful for all of it.
Special shout out to my dear, the first person who waited for me and ran with me. Absolutely beautiful to see her finish her first marathon. And congrats to who also wasn’t sure he’d be able to run at all and still absolutely cooked.
Then I headed over to to host my first Berlin Marathon shakeout run with and for the Hyperion collection.
I also got to be on the Hoka Show with to talk about our upcoming project, Running Towards You.
So many firsts, new experiences, and fun packed into one week. Feeling super lucky to be doing all of this with people I love around me.
The Berlin Marathon is officially TOMORROW.
LFFGGGGGGG ❤️🔥
The last year and a half has held a lot of grief, turmoil, uncertainty, and pain. There were moments when I genuinely had no idea what my life was going to look like next.
Never did I think I would become a runner, let alone be standing here just days away from my second marathon.
Less than two months ago, I was in the emergency room with severe anemia. I still have a scar on my arm from the iron infusions. Not long before that, I was once again agonizing over whether I would even be able to stay in the country after getting laid off from my job.
I started to wonder if everything in this life would simply turn to ash in my hands before I ever felt safe enough to hold it at all. Would anything ever stick? Would I ever feel secure? But a couple months later, I have a German passport, a new job, and I’m back out there moving my body.
The place I return to over and over again, to feel grounded and present, and as though I’ll make it through whatever life throws at me, is running. If grief is love with nowhere to go, running is how I alchemized it.
Last night, I had the surreal privilege of seeing part of my story brought to life through this documentary, photographic series, and exhibition.
Thank you for trusting me with the space to share it. Thank you for helping make this possible. And thank you to the entire team who treated our stories with so much care.
I’m equally in awe of every person featured alongside me. To stand in a room surrounded by the stories of people whose relationships with movement carry so much meaning was incredibly special.
Running has changed my life in ways I still don’t entirely know how to explain.
It gave me community, love, and has made Berlin feel more like home than it ever had before. It carried me through moments when I didn’t know how I’d make it to tomorrow.
Running, you have given me my life back.
What a beautiful night. I’ll be carrying this one with me for a very long time. 🤍

One thing about me: I am a creature of reinvention. The bad times can only hold me down for so long. I take pain and turn it into power. Enough power to run 42.2 kilometers. I am a force to be reckoned with, and I know it.
When I say I’m going to do something, I do it. And today, I did the damn thing. It was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done, and I am so proud of myself.
Thank you to my friends, family, and loved ones across the globe who nursed me back to health when I no longer wanted to be here, who cheered me on as I picked up this wild new hobby, who flooded my life with positivity and strength, and who made it possible for me to raise money for an incredible cause while training for a marathon in one of the toughest seasons of my life.
Thank you to the beautiful people of Berlin I met this summer. I love you with all my heart. You carried me further than I ever thought possible. You showed up at the start line and the finish line. You held my hand as I ran past. You painted signs filled with love and encouragement. This was possible because of you.
I FUCKING DID IT YOU GUYS. 💥💥💥🤯🤯🤯
