Mkutano means “gathering with purpose,” and this truly felt like one of those moments. Easily one of the best dining views I’ve ever had. Watching elephants roam by while you eat is just unreal.

Tucked right along the coast in Newport Beach, this boutique stay feels like such a peaceful little escape. You’re just a short walk to the beach and Newport Beach Pier, and also close to local favorites like Lido Marina Village and Balboa Island.
We loved starting our mornings at their cozy onsite café, then heading out to the beach or exploring nearby spots. The hotel also offers thoughtful amenities like bikes, coolers, and beach toys (which my son was very obsessed with). The rooftop deck is perfect for soaking in the sun and ocean breeze and just doing nothing, and they also have live music on weekends, which gives it a nice relaxed atmosphere.
