La settimana del Salone del Mobile si é chiusa. Anche quest’anno abbiamo contribuito a un evento speciale: la galleria ha ospitato i due fratelli e che per la prima volta insieme hanno fuso le loro arti e hanno dato vita a uno spettacolo fatto di arte, natura e gastronomia.

Amelia Dennigan, aka è un’artista tessile irlandese che racconta storie poetiche con il filo: strati, dettagli e immagini evocative che sembrano prendere vita.

È anche una cara amica e qualche mese fa mi ha chiamata con una richiesta precisa: trovare un tessuto “brillante, elegante e un po’ drammatico” ma anche a norma con le regole del Regno Unito..

Il tessuto avrebbe fatto da cornice alle opere presentate alla Collective Art Fair a Londra nella splendida Somerset House
a fine Febbraio di quest’anno.

Abbiamo scelto Icaro di e la sua luce ha fatto esattamente quello che serviva: esaltare il lavoro di Amelia senza distrarre l’occhio.

È una storia di famiglia e, per chi non la conosce ancora, vogliamo raccontarla di nuovo.

Nel 1964 aprono le porte di Inter Casa a Catania. Un piccolo negozio nel centro storico della città offre una collezione moderna di carte da parati. Negli anni ’60 la carta da parati viveva un grande rilancio: marchi internazionali iniziavano a entrare nel mercato italiano. Geometrie dai colori accesi e pattern floreali dal gusto mid-century (che all’epoca era semplicemente moderno) erano di gran moda. Nel retrobottega, gli scaffali in legno custodivano rotoli su rotoli di stock, ciascuno con un cartellino scritto a mano con il codice del disegno e il numero di rotoli, che veniva barrato e aggiornato a ogni vendita.

Inter Casa diventa Addi Parati negli anni ’90. La stessa famiglia, un indirizzo diverso. E da lì cresce, offrendo tessuti d’arredamento, parquet e un colorificio con accessori e materiali tecnici per servire al meglio i progetti di ristrutturazione.

Oggi Addi Parati cresce di nuovo, senza cambiare il suo indirizzo a Catania (Siamo senpre li!). A breve potremo servirvi, con tutta l’esperienza che abbiamo accumulato dal 1964, anche online. I brand più importanti del mercato internazionale, sia di carte da parati che di tessuti, saranno alla portata di tutti. 4 giorni e mi hai rubato il cuore. Erano anni che non mi innamoravo cosi di una città. Ho il cuore metropolitano, vivo per il caos e l’energia esasperante delle grandi metropoli e Città del Messico con la sua architettura eclettica e stratificata, con il suo passo dolce, i suoi sapori dolci e piccanti, il design visionario mi ha strappato il cuore dal petto.

Una volta mia madre, a proposito dell’androne di un palazzo appena ristrutturato ma in cui non avevano ridipinto il muro accanto all’acensore, disse ‘ é come se ti lavassi la faccia senza lavarti il collo’. Penso a questa frase ogni volta che vedo un stanza a cui non hanno pensato a come rivestire il soffitto.

If you have been to Portugal you have probably seen a chaminé da cozinha, that is a kitchen chimney. Most old buildings have these so it’s very common to spot one. What I find interesting is that these were built to let the smoke out of the house naturally through this chimney and the same technology has been used since the Middle Ages. Here is mine, now dressed up to party in ♥️
