This lovely patient of mine dealt with significant melasma on her cheeks for many years. Melasma is a chronic cause of hyperpigmentation and is due to a complex interplay of light (both UV and visible), genetics, and hormones. Before finding her way to my clinic, she had tried a number of procedures elsewhere to no avail. Spoiler alert — peels and lasers are not always the answer when it comes to melasma! Now, after our treatment regimen, her skin is totally clear, even in the summertime. No makeup, no filters, no problem!

The rest of my bio? I was born and raised in Dayton, Ohio and accepted to medical school out of high school through a specialized BS/MD program at THE Ohio State University. I graduated from OSU summa cum laude and went on to complete my dermatology residency in the prestigious Harvard Combined Dermatology Program. In my years at Harvard, I trained with the leaders in the field in both medical and cosmetic dermatology and honed my skills with lasers and injectables. Ablative resurfacing laser is the most effective laser treatment at reversing sun damage, fine lines, and uneven texture. The primary goal of all treatments of male/female pattern hair loss is to keep all the hair that the patient has currently. The secondary goal is to regrow some of the hair that has been lost. Hair loss is genetic and can’t be cured, but with the proper medical and procedural treatments, we can get it under control. My favorite analogy - we can’t turn off the faucet, but we can definitely mop up the puddle! 🚰

This lovely patient came to me hoping to refresh her skin and improve the sunspots and lines associated with photoaging. Using a combination of three different laser wavelengths (532 nm, 1550 nm, and 1927 nm), we were able to craft the perfect combination treatment to target her discrete brown spots, wrinkles, and global dyspigmentation. The end result is a beautiful, healthy glow! The photos on the left are from before starting treatment and the photos on the right were taken several months after the treatment. No injectables were used in this case, albeit they likely would have further improved her wrinkles!
People always ask which laser is my favorite, but how can I just pick one!? I love to layer multiple lasers together to achieve the best result tailored to each of my patients’ individual concerns. I’m fortunate enough to have >20 different devices at my disposal to ensure the best results for each of my patients!
