And if someone could write me a check & then tell me exactly how to dress & put outfits together, that’d be great.

Best 😘✨
Something I wish I could go back and tell myself 7 years ago was that my community would shift drastically. In fact, almost all of my close friends were made in the last few years.
Of course friendships change over time, but some it was pretty evident that stepping into the foster care space wasn’t going to work for them. And honestly? It’s fine. What hurt in the moment has had purpose. Everyone is going through their own stuff and I’m just glad that I have an amazing village now. I’m still finding ways to connect deeper with my friends & build a community, but I just wish I could go back & tell myself that it’ll be okay.

by the way, we love this. I bought it used off of fb market 3 years ago and she’s still holding up well! I’ve ruined multiple plastic lunch boxes over the years but this stainless steel one is my go toooooo now.

Finally renewed my membership today after 3 years away 🙈

We’re preparing to head out of town next week, so I mostly restocked snacks & got some easy protein. I’ll probably pair the sirloin with frozen veggies & rice for my daughter & swap rice for sweet potatoes! We’ll be winging lunches with sandwiches, deli meats, pasta & meatballs that I have ready to prep quickly!

Anyone else having an insanely terrible time cooking lately?? I mentally can’t handle it so I’m doing easy meals this week!

Love you mean it 😘

I wish someone affirmed that stepping into this space is hard, traumatic, and yet one of the most important callings on our lives.

I am of course by no means perfect, I strive everyday to be better.

We’re biiiiig fans of in our house. I got N the Yoto original 3 years ago and this year for Christmas, she got the mini for travel & in the car. It’s so so good. We have a trip coming up in the next few weeks & I’m planning to get her a few new story cards to keep her occupied on the flights ✈️

✨💫 THE UPGRADE 💫✨

I’m just a girl (33 year old mom) trying to find her style and honestly I’m so excited to document this process because it means I’ll actually follow through 🤪

Any recs for wide shoes & wide calf boots?? Also are Rothy’s worth it? I’ve been a big fan for a while but scared to pull the trigger!

Like, share, save if you’re going on this journey with meeee 🫶🏽✨🌞

Why would a man be there 🙃

I’ve had my rocket for a few weeks now, and while I have preferred the convenience of a cordless, I think the corded vac has just been more reliable & stronger especially with the dog hair!

I, of course, think foster care is work that communities at large should be doing. Supporting kids & families in crisis begins before removal, but unfortunately this is the way it is. Kids are entering foster care at alarming rates still and there aren’t enough foster homes to meet those needs. So there are often families with a large number of children.

THIS IS NOT A JUDGEMENT. I know and love lots of people with lotsa kids. And I know the need is great. I’m wondering how we (as loving, trauma informed parents) are wrestling with the tension of the need for homes vs the needs our kids have. In the day to day when brother was living with us, the kids had very big behaviors and very big needs always at. the. same. time. And yes, part of that is just having kids. But trauma behaviors are not the same as typical behaviors and kids from trauma often need constant de-escalation, co-regulation, hands on, & full body interventions at times (in our case, it was literally all day everyday for every child). Adding to that, the need for kids to have meaningful one on one time with their caregivers. And I consider that at times, those interventions will need to be increased as kids move into adolescence.

I think there can be a balance of loving kids from hard places, supporting kids in foster care, & not absolutely being worn ragged from mothering. And I’m speaking as a mom who is on hold partially due to my metabolic burnout (which is, in fact, a thing) that presents itself in many different ways in my body, and I have been absolutely worn ragged from parenting. And I’m not sure it’s meant to be that way.

This is in no way about anyone that may be reading this, unless you are the Dougherty dozen mom (lol).

I’d love to have a conversation about this, especially as I consider the needs my family has & our future fostering. How are we handling it?
As a 33 year old single mom who dresses like she just rolled out of bed 99% of the time, I’m sick of it!! I value comfort and function over everything but I’m tired of looking like I put in zeroooo effort.
✨ Episode one I’m going to share my vision board & outfit inspo
✨ then I’ll be cleaning out my wardrobe & begin slowly start adding in pieces!

I’m excited to document this because it means I’ll actually follow through! Lol

If you’re a mom & can relate, let me know!! Midsize mamas, let me know your favorite places to shop on a budget!

Oh if there’s anything I’ve learned over the last year, it’s that the Lord’s ways will always prevail and there is literally nothing I can do to control anything in my life. His will be done, always and forever and I pray peace & favor in this next year of my life 🥰✨
