Window in the sky
Blue Moon during the Blue Hour 🌕
Tonight’s Moon rising over the Sun-kissed clouds
A gentle breeze caressing the crescent Moon

Few things are able to express calmness in such an effective way as wind and moving clouds do.

The wind is invisible, yet we feel it on our skin. The clouds seem to touch and wrap around the Moon, while being worlds apart. These quiet illusions make distance feel gentle and remind me that closeness is not always measured in kilometers or miles, but in what we allow ourselves to feel.
A galactic clash 🌌

This image shows M51, with the Whirlpool Galaxy and its smaller companion galaxy NGC 5195 interacting with each other creating tidal structures between them. These long streams and bridges of stars and gas have been pulled outward by gravity, connecting and distorting both systems.

This 6 hour unfiltered exposure under light polluted skies shows hints of these tidal streams around the galaxy, while deeper images taken under dark skies reveal faint wisps and arcs extending far beyond the bright visible spiral.

This is a target I’ve been wanting to capture for about 6 years, but weather during spring (galaxy season) gets rough down here and makes it hard to plan a trip to dark skies. Yesterday was the first clear night in about two months and even though imaging broadband targets such as galaxies under polluted skies is less than ideal, I decided to finally give it a go instead of waiting another year at the mercy of clouds.

Hydrogen clouds within the Triangulum Galaxy

Seen as faint reddish patches scattered across the spiral arms, these regions host newborn stars that energize surrounding hydrogen gas, making it glow across millions of light-years and into my camera.
The Moon and Jupiter

This scene shows a conjunction between the crescent Moon and Jupiter setting behind a mountain. A similar conjunction is happening tonight, within the Gemini constellation, so the two brightest stars in this constellation (Castor and Pollux) will also appear near the Moon.

Hello there! My name is Daniel Borja and I'm an astrophotographer based in Monterrey, Mexico. I'm very excited to collaborate with and share with you today some of my favorite images that I've taken since 2019, the year that marked the start of my astrophotography journey. I want to start by saying that I was really hesitant on buying my first telescope because I was afraid that the heavy light and air pollution I live under would ruin the whole experience, so my expectations were kinda low. I was struck in awe as soon as I glanced at the Moon through the eyepiece. And to this date, seeing Jupiter and Saturn so clear and just... out there, is something else. So please feel free to reach out and I'll do my best to guide you in the right direction to get your first telescope. You wont regret it:)

Anyway, on to the images.

1. Saturn and its Moons. Composite image taken with a Celestron Nexstar 6SE and ASI533MC.
2. Earthshine: The crescent Moon setting behind Cerro de las Mitras. 2" exposure, ISO 400 shot with a Redcat 51 and a Nikon d5600.
3. The Full Snow Moon of 2023. Composite image taken with a Celestron Nexstar 6SE and ASI533MC.
4. Orion Nebula. 3 hours total exposure time under Bortle 9 skies. 30" exposures with a Redcat 51, ASI533MC and an AVX mount.
5. Saturn setting. Double exposure, 3" exposure at ISO 400, f6.3 and stacked image at f20. Shot with Celestron Nexstar 6SE, ASI290MC and Nikon d5600.
6. Jupiter/Moon and Mars/Moon conjunctions of 2023. Shot with Redcat 51 and Nikon d5600. 3" exposures on both. Double exposure for the Full Moon.
7. Daytime Saturn. August 28, 2019. Shot with a Celestron Nexstar 6SE and ASI290MC.
8. The Horsehead Nebula. 90 minutes total exposure time. 90" exposures under Bortle 4 skies with the Redcat 51, Nikon d5600 and a Star Adventurer.
9. The Great Conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn. December, 2020. Double exposure with the Nikon d5600 and Celestron Nexstar 6SE.
10. A Moon timelapse compilation. Shots of 2022. Shot with the Redcat 51 and Nikon d5600.

Saturn through a telescope.

This is a representation of Saturn as seen through the eyepiece under clear, dark and stable skies with a mid-size telescope which are usually the ones used at star parties held by local astronomy clubs. So if you haven't had the opportunity to look through a telescope, I recommend you to look up for any events held by your local astronomy clubs and go see for yourself 🙂

The image is composed by my capture of Saturn and its larger Moons during last years opposition.

Disclaimer:

The image shows more saturated color as opposed to a live view. Also, the visual size of the object as well as the clarity depends on many factors such as aperture, light pollution and seeing conditions.

Equipment used:
Celestron Nexstar 6SE
ZWO ASI290MC
ZWO ADC
TeleVue Barlow 2x
