What I loved most about this book was how flawed the characters were. Making mistakes, having bad thoughts, trying to tell right from wrong, doing some bad things and trying to be good people. It’s a book about life in Paris, friendship, motherhood, psychoanalysis, feminism & feminist collage, intergenerational trauma, religion, sex, love. The writing was gorgeous and I loved following Anna & Florence. If you love Sally Rooney and her flawed characters, I think you’ll love love love this book. is my new obsession and it should be yours too 💞

This is a YA magical trilogy so I won’t try to summarize everything happening, but believe me when I tell you it’s really good. It has everything: tarot cards, magic, Ireland, queerness, friendship, love, a (pseudo)religious cult, family, power, a demon, rituals, activism, art, everything!!!
If you have a teen kid, buy this serie for them, I’m sure it can be life-changing if you read it as a teen. If you don’t have a teen kid, buy this serie for yourself 😇 it wasn’t life-changing for me, poor old hag that I am, but it sent me into a tarot frenzy and who knows, that could be life-changing in the end!!
If I had to say one thing overall, it’s that hell is a teenage girl! Read. This. Book.

Save the date: On January 29, the bookstore will welcome you between 7.00 PM and 8.30 PM for a book swap!!! The books’ table will be emptied for you to put YOUR books on it! Bring the books you don’t want to keep on your shelf & leave with other people’s books for free while spending the evening talking about BOOKS!

How to participate? Just write me an e-mail (link in bio: ‘Want to join the book swap?’) to let me know you’re coming, and bring with you at least 4 books to trade (books in English only please 😌)! You have until January 19 to register! If you wish to fill out library cards, you can either pick them up anytime before the 19 & bring them back home to then be all set on swap day or you can fill them out during the swap! And of couuurse you don’t HAVE to fill these cards, do it only if it’s fun for you!
Oh and there’ll be hot mulled cider & some marshmallow bears to keep us warm, I can’t wait!!

It kept me company this holiday during the flu, and I still have 100 pages to go before the end, I still don’t know what will happen and can’t wait to pick it back up!!

This little coven of ours met to talk about The Wax Child by Olga Ravn! The opinions were mixed but the bookclub in itself was delicious, as usual! We talked about the beauty of prose, the interesting theme, but also about our quite-tired-brains by the end of the year, which made the read a bit challenging for some of us. The conversation was brilliant and we also talked about Hex by Jenny Fagan, Prophet Song by Paul Lynch, The Employees by Olga Ravn, Paradais by Fernanda Melchor and The Mercie by Kiran Millwood Hargrave. We gave the book an average rating of 3.07 and I personally gave it a 3!
