dach&zephir x Neyret
As part of the Present >< Future program, the Cité du design invites each guest designer to embark on a creative collaboration with a company from the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, recognized for its industrial expertise and innovative approach.
The duo dach&zephir collaborated with the Saint-Étienne-based company Neyret, specializing in the manufacture of ribbons and textile accessories since 1823. This partnership brought together Neyret’s unique craftsmanship and the studio’s artistic and historical approach, developed since its beginning.
Entitled Les tableaux tissées des Antilles, the duo’s research revive a 19th-century tradition for which Neyret was once renowned: the production of woven pictures based on popular imagery depicting national heroes, family life, stages of life, and religious scenes, all showcasing jacquard weaving expertise.
Echoing this history, dach&zephir’s collage-based imagery inspired by Creole culture becomes the starting point for new creations, exploring alternative ways of “making pictures” through imagery, techniques, and visual effects specific to their aesthetic language.
While the Jacquard proposal represents a “finished” outcome, the duo simultaneously developed an experimental body of work using frayed textile borders collected from the company’s recycling waste. These discarded materials became the basis for a broader exploration into new ways of “making images” and “making textiles.” The visual and aesthetic potential of these textile remnants is transformed into figurative and abstract textile-images, integrating fragments of recomposed imagery to create singular woven surfaces.
The resulting scenes and portraits stand as vibrant testimonies to everyday life and emblematic figures of the Antilles and Creole culture, continuing the legacy of the woven tableaux originally produced by Neyret in its early years.

This month, we are highlighting our collaborations with designers. On this occasion, we are revisiting the rug created with Dach & Zephir for the Salon des Nouveaux Ensembliers, presented at the Mobilier national in Paris in October 2025.
This rug reflects the vision of a Franco-Caribbean vestibule where waiting becomes a sensory experience. Inspired by Caribbean terraces and natural materials, this original design was crafted using a hand-woven technique in our workshops in Cogolin.
On view at our Paris showroom, 30 rue des Saints-Pères.

In continuity with Caribbean Beauties, a series of sculptures initiated in 2022, Konpozisyon proposes an exploration of inhabited matter — fragmented and reassembled.
At the invitation of x, the lids imagined by dach&zephir are assemblages of offcuts of exotic and precious woods drawn from the duo’s material library. Remnants of former projects and fragments collected from craftsmen and cabinetmakers, these pieces of wood—whose use might seem limited due to their modest dimensions—here become the starting point of the project.
Each box unfolds like a gradation of woods, a sensitive cartography in which tones, surfaces, and geometries converse and respond to one another. Irregularity becomes rhythm. Modest geometry becomes vocabulary. The composition is never fixed: it is built and unbuilt through the viewer’s gaze, revealing in turn its lines, its tensions, its moments of breathing—like a recomposed landscape.
On view Bruxelles 12-15 march

dach&zephir in collaboration with the Manufacture de Sèvres

As part of Le Salon Les Nouveaux Ensembliers, the collaboration with invited us to propose our own vision of decor for an emblematic Art Deco piece designed by Jacques-Émile Ruhlmann: Vase n°3.
To reveal another history of ornament and decoration in the French Caribbean, the studio took this opportunity to extend an ongoing research on the vase, shifting it toward the question of the motif that adorns it.
Rooted in the great tradition of floral motifs produced by French manufactures—particularly those developed for the 1925 International Exhibition of Modern Decorative and Industrial Arts—the proposal enters into dialogue with Ruhlmann’s work. The composition brings together graphic elements drawn from his research sketches for wallpapers with image-collages developed by the studio around Creole flora.
At the heart of this composition lies the grenn job, an emblematic seed of the French Caribbean. Frequently used in jewelry during the colonial period, it represented a form of “green gold” for enslaved communities. Through its nacre-like surface, it echoed the pearls worn by bourgeois women, enabling a discreet subversion of sumptuary laws that restricted access to precious materials.
The motif unfolds through multiple layers, revealed by light and shifting points of view. At first glance, the vase appears immaculate, punctuated with grenn job whose shimmering appearance may be mistaken for ceramic elements. The surface gradually reveals a subtle printed pattern, rendered in variations of white, describing the structure of a wild, invasive plant native to the island’s lowlands.
Between living archive and evanescence, the project seeks to inscribe a long-marginalized floral history within the continuity of the French decorative tradition.

Presented at La Galerie de Sèvres, Paris, until January 31, 2026.

Their ongoing research project “Éloi Krèyòl” brings together Guadeloupean seed growers Philippe Alexis and Rudy Denin with Maison 1909—France’s last remaining boxwood bead curtain manufacturer—to create beaded curtains (“rideaux de perles”) that honor local resources and ancestral knowledge.
This work reminds us that architecture lives in the materials we choose, the traditions we honor, and the local economies we sustain. ✨
