My birthday is approaching and there was a time I didn’t want to celebrate this birthday.But I earned this. Have plans been set, of course not.
I remembered the doctor’s words in my hospital room last spring—I had 6–8 months left.
But I also remembered God’s promises, the prayers of my family, and the friends who stood in the trenches with me when I was too weak to stand myself. 🍈Breast cancer couldn’t shake me, respiratory failure and the collapsed lung 🫁 didn’t take me out, and then the devil thought he finally had me, but this heart of mine will keep pumping strong thanks to my #LVAD. I now refer to myself as Ironman or a sassy robot. 🫀

A decade of living as a lupus warrior—and surviving what tried to take me out.
Ten years of aches that lingered, fatigue no amount of rest could fix, holidays missed, and hospital stays I never planned for. Ten years of learning how to grieve my career, the life I imagined, and the life I previously had while still choosing to live fully in the one God placed in my hands.
And yet… here I am. 🦋
Still standing. Still believing. Still breathing.
To my family and friends who never stopped showing up. To my lupie fam who understands without explanation. To everyone who prayed, checked in, gave, visited, threw up Ls✋🏾, and loved on me when my body was tired—thank you. You carried me when I couldn’t carry myself.
And to, The LupusFoundation of America, thank you for the continued support, advocacy, resources, research, and for reminding us that none of us fight alone.

And if there’s one thing I know for sure, it’s this—

This year wasn’t easy. Healing didn’t mean the hardships stopped. Joy and grief still shared space. Strength was often borrowed, not owned.
But hear me clearly…

It took me a week to post because honestly I was overwhelmed. Im still in shock it’s actually over. Waking up this Tuesday and not needing to go was an adjustment. Y’all actually done with chemo!!!!!
I couldn’t have gotten through this without the amazing support system I have. My parents, my siblings, my heart, my besties, my tribe, Nurse Sis, my family and friends, Nurse Kate, my followers who sent me stuff and I’ve never even met you 🥺😭😫! THANK YOU, THANK YOU!! I’m so blessed. The Devil thought he had me for a second, he ain’t know God don’t play about me.
No part of this was easy, but I know it could have went in a totally different direction for me. I kept smiling and kept pushing not only for myself but for those watching me. Hearing “it’s cancer” is an experience you can’t really put into words. Your world stops and shatters instantly. Next thing, you’re on a speeding train trying to put it on back together. I still don’t know how I bounced back so fast. But I’ll go into greater detail soon.
I just want to take this time to say thank you to everyone who was with me though this. We aren’t done yet!! Next is surgery and radiation!! Yaaaaayyy 😑

Yes, I’ll go in to greater details later via my blog or YouTube. A lot has happened in the last couple of months I could never put it all in a caption. So many appointments, so many doctors, still dealing with my #lupus and #mentalhealth, starting #chemo, and losing my curls.
By now you’ve probably put 2 and 2 together. I cut my hair the first time to lessen the blow of losing my hair once I started chemo. It started coming out after my 4th treatment. That alone is a discussion all its own. I acted love it.👩🏽🦲
Now to get get to the part that will probably mess me up. Other than God’s amazing grace I owe the journey being the breeze it’s been to my wonderful friends and family. Having a daughter or sister with a chronic illness is hard enough, then to be thrown cancer is a real gut punch. My parents have been by my side the entire way and my dad has been a great chemo companion. My sis rocks her pink every Tuesday (my chemo days) and did y’all see my bro giving me my haircut? I brag on my besties/bros/sisters cuz they deserve it. Period. Surprising me at my MRIs and my first day of chemo, sending random cards, giving the best gift bags, and checking on me literally every single day since I found the lump. God picked every single one of them for me. My sis/personal oncology nurse…you already know! You already know! And my ig-less love, who like my fam sees the good, bad, and ugly of life with someone who has lupus and cancer. Thank you to those who check on him and make sure he’s good! I appreciate you! And to everyone else who has shown support, still made me feel normal, checked on me, I LOVE YOU!! My amazing clients, my DBB fam, my TRIBE, the, and yea you!! Thank you!!! Stay tuned for more.
