exhibited within the stedelijk museum’s mezzanine, farida sedoc’s installation ‘social capital’ shows how shared goals connect people. each of the three works is based on a photograph of a group portrait from the artist’s personal archive, making visible the power of collectivity and a shared sense of direction and connectedness.
within this transitional space, the continuous movement of groups allows for constant changes to be made to the composition.
in farida’s work, intersectionality, the influence of monetary economics, and legacy play a significant role. she reflects on the times in which we live and investigates how images function within communities, bringing together themes like solidarity, transnationality, trade, and economic inequality.
about the artist:
living in amsterdam, farida sedoc (b. 1980) works across diverse mediums to create two- and three-dimensional works, mostly through installations, graphic design, and screenprint, both commission-based and autonomous. in 2024, she was awarded the amsterdamprijs voor de kunst, the most important art prize in the city. farida has her own clothing brand hosselaer, and has worked with brands including patta. her practice explores and questions intersectionality and the influence of monetary economics, heritage, and politics on the future of globalism and our community life.

natascha libbert (b. 1973) is based in amsterdam, and initially worked in advertising before spending a decade balancing life as a flight attendant just to put herself through photography school, and eventually graduating from the royal academy of art (kabk) in 2009.
she is known for her fascinating, deep-dive research into the invisible technical zones of our world. for ‘transit’, natascha has created a site-specific installation of 24 massive photographic paper rolls suspended freely throughout the space, which sit in dialogue with other multimedia works by contemporary artists from across europe.
natascha will be joining us tomorrow to give an exclusive artist talk at 3:00pm, followed by drinks and time to chat.
tickets are moving fast! link in our bio.

positioned at the intersection of art and science, ‘transit’ approaches industrial transformation as a political process that demands new forms of coordination and responsibility. the exhibition stages an encounter between the scientific research of the sustainable industry lab (sil) and artistic practice, bringing contemporary art into dialogue with academic inquiry. where research offers conceptual pathways for navigating possible futures, the artworks in transit engage these questions through their own visual language expressing ambiguity, doubt, and friction.
we’ll hear from artist natascha libbert about her monumental, site-specific installation. her work consists of a spatial composition of 24 photographs, printed on paper rolls and suspended freely throughout the space. on the reverse side, facts, dilemmas, and bold ideas about the future of industry, articulated by sil researchers, are presented.
about the artist and space:
natascha libbert (b. 1973) is an amsterdam-based visual artist and photographer whose practice focuses on the human footprint within nature and industrial landscapes. her unmanipulated images often capture the uneasy tension between ecological transformation and a globalized world, revealing a surreal beauty tinged with a darker edge.
founded by annemarie galani and henk stallinga, is an independent, non-profit contemporary art platform located in amsterdam noord. this alternative exhibition space is dedicated to programming brave, challenging, and vital works from international artists at all stages of their careers.
there will be time to chat and hang with fellow culture sniffers afterwards:)
the ticket price includes a reduced admission (usually €12.50) complimentary catalogue, drinks, and supports our community. link in bio.
see you there!
