Today, as I sit in my favourite spot watching this year’s baby common lizards basking in the last of the summer rays, I’m taking a moment to reflect on some positives and more importantly, to show some appreciation where it’s due.
I want to take a moment to highlight the vital work and unwavering dedication that the team has put into this shop over many years. So much of what made CPR special happened behind the scenes, often unnoticed — but never unappreciated.
You’ve truly been the backbone of CPR — through sweat, tears, and yes, even a bit of bloodletting along the way! You’re the ones who kept the wheels turning.
From patiently guiding someone on their very first steps into reptile keeping…
To dealing with that one incredibly awkward customer 😂
From so patiently and delicately dealing with those tiny, tricky little feeders…
To sticking around late into the night, waiting for a shipment from halfway across the globe — with only a cold slice of pizza as our reward 🍕
Most importantly, you always made sure every animal left here in the best possible condition, ready for its new home.
Each one of you has been an essential gear in the CPR workhorse, and I want to personally thank every single one of you — from the bottom of my heart. It’s been a real honour to work alongside you. We’ve shared something special here. Plenty of laughs, a few tears, and countless memories I’ll never forget.

After more than four decades of serving this amazing community, we are heartbroken to announce that (Aquaplan) Crystal Palace Reptiles will be closing its doors for the last time at the end of September.
This has been an incredibly difficult decision for our family. Sadly, a combination of serious illness, along with an extraordinary increase in rent demands and business rates, has made it impossible for us to continue.
Running the shop has been a true labour of love. We’ve cherished every moment — every scaly visitor, every curious question, and every passionate conversation with fellow reptile lovers. As much as we love what we do, continuing under these circumstances just isn’t possible.
We want to thank each and every one of you for your loyal support over the years. Your passion, kindness, and trust have meant the world to us — and we truly couldn’t have done it without you.
Though this chapter is coming to an end, the memories and connections we’ve made will stay with us always.
