This past week we travelled more than 2000km and visited all 13 CrossFit Affiliates in KZN. The purpose of the visits was to establish and re-establish personal connections and relationships with the Affiliate owners and their teams, to get to know their amazing communities and to experience their pride and joy - the boxes they sacrifice so much for and take so much pride in.
At the Affiliate gathering we all sat down together to discuss current situations, the needs of the community, and the vision for moving forward and how we can work together to grow CrossFit together!
To all the KZN Affiliate Owners, thank you for your hospitality and valuable contributions towards planning for a better future.

Jobst Olschewski (CF-L4) has been a CrossFit Seminar Staff Trainer since 2011. In addition to mentoring the Brazilian Seminar Staff team, he created Box dos Sonhos, a program that provides training centers and business assistance for local affiliates.
He also founded the Fittest in Cape Town competition — now an official CrossFit Semifinal event — and co-created the Brazil CrossFit Championship and CrossFit Copa Sur (also a Semifinal event).
Jobst, who serves as a Flowmaster for the Seminar Staff, said one of his favorite things about leading the CrossFit Level 1 Certificate Course is bringing the written material to life.
“The Level 1 course manual is impressive as is, but it becomes even more impactful once participants learn how everything fits together and how they can use it to change people’s lives,” Jobst said.
While it’s impossible to completely prepare for the Level 1 weekend — it’s something that just has to be experienced — Jobst said his advice to anyone planning on attending the seminar is fairly simple: “Be well rested and prepared to get your mind blown.”
A CrossFit Level 1 Certificate is required to teach CrossFit, but the course isn’t just for people who plan to be trainers. Jobst said the course teaches movements that are necessary for everyday life as well as the basic principles of training effectively and efficiently.
“It offers an attitude and tools to independently maintain a healthy and fit lifestyle,” Jobst said.
