The butterfly shot:
When we were shooting the mountain bike scene, one of the shots was a side-ish angle on a 600mm at 800fps, following Domi down a big line. The main section of the run, which was far away from me and, made sense to shoot on a long lens, but the closer she got to us, the harder it became to focus, so we’d bank on getting maybe a usable second or so when she was that close, ripping fast past the camera.
When checking the footage, we realized that right after she finished one of the runs, a small butterfly flew right by her helmet. It was such a surprise as we would have never seen it from that far. That later ignited the idea of shooting a butterfly again but in a more controlled environment to support the main theme of innocence and flying, which was a big part of the original concept.
On shoots like these, that sit more in the hybrid commercial / branded doc space, I find a lot of the “weird stuff” comes from staying truthful to a concept from the start, while keeping your eyes open for moments in the process that can grow an idea and take it further.
Bit of a lucky one, and we just rolled with it to make something bigger out of it. Glad we did!

Excited to launch my new director’s website.
The last few years have been the most incredible journey of learning, growing and narrowing my role as a maker of films. In the last three to four years I have been focusing intentionally on directing. It is a journey that, when I started filmmaking, I was not sure was that’s what I wanted to do, but today it has become where I feel most at home.
I have been very much dancing between the branded doc world and the commercial world, collaborating with brands and organizations always aiming to create work that feels human, real, while experimenting visually and letting my child imagination fly a bit more, specially in the last year or so.
This website is the result of a few years of hard work. From collaborations and projects with brands such as Adidas Terrex, The North Face, Destination Canada, the United Farm Workers Foundation, Sea-Doo, Peak Performance among others. There is also a journal where I am sharing a bit of behind the scenes and moments that are part of what happens behind these projects.
Thankful to be able to keep continuing this chapter, directing in Canada and globally with the usual suspects and new ppl that I get to collab with along the way.
Let me know if you end up giving it a peek and if it sparks some inspo.
Much love 🫶🏽

The idea of this section was to illustrate something closer to the beginning of time, the creation of the universe… playing a bit with the thought that whatever we dream of and the worlds we build for ourselves perhaps start developing themselves mysteriously way before we even know. I wanted to portray that feeling of unconsciousness cosmos / creation world. Almost as if we could go back to the moment where Domi was born, or when her dreams begun to form.
Mainly I wanted 3 types of shots. An exploding sun, a deep space look, and a cellular-looking texture. To do this, me and shot it all practical in studio using a different mix of chemicals, shot in 8K so we could have more flexibility in post. Lots of trial and error along the process… small things like the order of the chemicals created completely different reactions every time and so on. Almost addicting as every attempt gave us an infinite amount of shapes and movement of the liquids.
And on top of that, in post, it was like gold mining all over again, looking for tiny spots in the clips where we kept finding some of those otherworldly shapes. Some of these clips that made the cut ended up being cropped nearly to 1000 percent.
Felt good to not use AI for this. Made the process so much more intentional and rewarding.

When we are kids, we are often asked what we want to be when we grow up. Most of the time, we don’t really know. All we have is our imagination.
As a kid, I was constantly reminded by my dad that you can do whatever you want, be whoever you want to be. This film is an ode to dreaming big, as big as our imagination allows us.
Through the world of Dominique Ohaco, freestyle skier, X Games athlete and former Olympian, we are invited into a life shaped by that same sense of possibility. A reminder that the dreams we carry as children can guide the paths we follow as adults.
Shot in the Sea to Sky region near Whistler, British Columbia, Canada.
Supported by Adidas and Adidas Terrex.

For | A slice of the work and put behind their helicopter operation in Chile. Flying these gigantic machines through the deep Andes is no joke, and they do it gracefully, passionately and with hard work. Seeing their process first hand is what inspired this cut. A little slice of what we capture flying around in Chile through the Andean skies.

It had been two years since I was here when we shot Nourished Lands with and and it felt awesome to be back.
This time with staying with her mom Shelley who lives up here. Got to see Iqaluit from an intimate perspective, sharing with locals and people from other countries that have decided to move to this small and unique town in the north of Canada.
A special trip, filled with work, family, and new friends.
In these series, Dinos is wearing his polar bear suit (for illustrative purposes only) which he’d take back in the days on long multi day hunting trips on the sea ice of the Arctic (a little luck made the reflection of his binoculars seem as if he’s looking into another galaxy). My goal was to make a portrait of him that felt timeless. Wasn’t too hard as he’s face tells a million stories from a life well lived in the cold.
Until next time, Iqaluit.
Director and DP chose the RED V-RAPTOR for its toughness and compact form, making it ideal for the harsh conditions of winter camping in the BC mountains. As shares, "The V-RAPTOR’s power in a small package has been a game-changer for creativity. #ShotonRED
