The 20-foot Coyote statue was recently installed at the southeast corner of Grant Road and Dodge Boulevard. This public art piece is part of the Grant Road Phase 3-4 Improvements led by the City of Tucson.
The bold sculpture created by local artist Joe O’Connell of Creative Machines doubles as public art and place‑making for a flood‑control basin built to capture storm runoff during Tucson’s monsoon season.
Back in 2024, O’Connell worked with the Public Art Panel, led by the Arts Foundation, to envision the convergence of the desert landscape and the surrounding city with public art.
The enhanced landscaping, along with the accompanying public art, will improve both pedestrian and bicyclist use of Grant Road.
