The word 'blanket' is both humble and profound - a noun, adjective, and verb that weaves through our lives from birth to death. It offers warmth, comfort, and connection, yet can also carry weight, history, and harm.
'Blanket' brings together ten Western NL artists - Trudy Jo Campbell, jessie donaldson, Marcia Huyer, Nancy Brubacher Jacobsen, Robyn Love, Michelle MacKinnon, Tessa May, shawn o’hagan, Kelsey Street, and Larry Weyand - each exploring the layered meanings of this ordinary yet deeply charged word through textiles, sculpture, drawing, and installation. Together, their works create a collective reflection on the tenderness, tension, and history bound up in the act of covering and being covered.
'Blanket' will be available for public viewing (free of charge) beginning this Saturday, November 15th at 155 Water St., Second Floor Gallery.
A reception in celebration of this beautiful work will take place on Saturday, November 22nd.
