"When people think about wellness, they often think about slowing down, but for me, I’ve found it in something a little unexpected—dog agility.
Before I got my dog, Phoebe, I didn’t know anything about the sport. But over the past five and a half years, it has become such an important part of my life. Through agility, I’ve built incredible friendships and found a community I never expected. Even more than that, it has helped me create an unbelievable bond with Phoebe. And while it’s fast-paced and high energy, it’s one of the few places where I’m completely present. When you’re on the course, there’s no time to think about work, your to-do list, or even the last mistake. If something doesn’t go as planned, you reset instantly and keep going.
As a CPA, I’m used to structure, precision, and getting things right. But agility has taught me that not everything will go perfectly, and that’s okay. It’s helped me let go of perfection, adapt in the moment, trust my dog, and remember it’s not all about me, we’re a team. For me, agility isn’t just a sport, it’s a way to reset, stay present, and support my overall wellness… all while spending time with my best teammate."

“I have many friends and family outside my local area and outside of Canada. While technology can often feel like a mindless distraction, in this case it’s invaluable. It helps me stay connected with the people closest to me who aren’t physically nearby. Random texts, silly memes or reels, an “I’m thinking about you” emoji or GIF, or a group chat centered on a shared interest (a sporting event, TV series, or news item) only takes 10 seconds, and sending or receiving them often makes me smile and provides a much needed light moment on otherwise busy or heavy days.”
