For this marquee set up at the beautiful, our amazing crew were faced with strong gusts and high coastal winds to the extent that it became unsafe for the build to continue that day. In practical terms, this meant carefully reworking wider build schedules, adjusting installation timings and compressing days of planned production and décor into a far smaller window than anticipated.
.
This is precisely where experience, preparation and trusted partnerships matter most. Seamless weddings are not defined by the absence of challenges, they are defined by the calm, strategic and solutions-focused way those challenges are handled behind the scenes. Our answer? Hosting a welcome night - I actually can’t remember the last time we designed a wedding without one.
Whether it be a relaxed courtyard gathering or more considered seated dinner, it’s an opportunity to spend unhurried time with your guests, and invite them into your unique story, before the formalities begin the following day.

This welcome dinner at Chewton Glen last summer was designed to honour the groom’s New England heritage through a blue and white palette, a bespoke menu of favourite family dishes (including lobster rolls and whoopee pies) and the soft rhythm of American songbook jazz; after dinner, guests were invited out onto the terrace for fireside s’mores, hot toddies and sultry jazz late into the night.

The feeling of time well spent with the people you love is what transforms a beautiful wedding into a truly meaningful wedding weekend.

When Abbey first reached out to me last July, she was balancing demanding working hours alongside the growing weight of planning something deeply meaningful, all while searching for a setting that truly felt like ‘them’. We took the time to reflect on what mattered most, exploring the atmosphere they were drawn to and the kind of experience they wanted to create for their guests, and I was delighted to introduce them to Coworth Park, which they fell in love with instantly. The opportunity to say their vows outdoors in the Lime Grove, host a champagne reception in the Rose Garden, and then invite guests inside for their wedding breakfast and after party with a private terrace, all preceded by an intimate welcome dinner the evening before, felt like the perfect composition.

But in truth, it all began here (next pic), in the show ring, where the foundations for an aptitude and a passion for planning, preparation and attention to detail were laid from a very young age and continued into adulthood. Competitive riding is not simply about the moment of performance, it demands weeks and months of unseen preparation and practice to achieve peak condition, unwavering dedication regardless of weather or fatigue, and absolute precision the day before & on the day itself, from timing feeding, grooming, plaiting, bandaging, boxing and travelling, and then the final perfecting and polish and warm ups before presentation. Under the guidance of my sweet mother, who I sadly lost in 2024, I not only learned organisational skills from a very young age but also subconsciously resilience, quiet confidence, composure under pressure, the ability to adapt to the behaviour of others (my horses!), problem solving and the deep sense of empathy required to bring out the best in our partnership.

A&S dreamed of hosting 200 guests for a destination wedding weekend in the south east of England and they wanted to offer their guests the opportunity to fully relax and unwind and celebrate over the course of a number of days, by hosting a series of very different events. We looked at a number of venues in the search for the one that would not only fit the brief for guest count and wraparound events but that would also win their hearts - and I was delighted when my concept for 4 day exclusive hire of Chewton Glen as the primary location with Somerley House as the secret wedding day venue hit the spot. They absolutely fell in love with Somerley the moment we arrived and as a planner, it was truly a dream venue to partner with.

I’d say that is a pretty accurate insight! I’ve always been a people person & friends describe me as a good listener, supportive, caring & thoughtful. (Let’s put my faults aside for now!).
