Shot on RED Komodo
Deep in northern Tanzania, the Hadza live as they have for thousands of years, hunting baboons with hand-carved bows and foraging the wild for every meal. I spent three days with them, sharing fires, following hunts, and listening to stories under the stars. It was a rare glimpse into a way of life that’s almost disappeared. At first, it sounded like a breed of horse, or maybe just a regional term for gauchos. But Jorge, our guide, teacher, and friend, gave it some weight.
“I’m not just a gaucho,” he said. “I’m a Criollo.”
He spoke about it like it was something deeper than just a tradition. It was a way of seeing the world. Of living in rhythm with the land, not apart from it. He told us it meant loving the valley like it was part of you. Being curious, humble, rooted, and strong. By the end of the journey, it didn’t feel like just a word anymore. It felt like something to live up to.

A year ago, and I got to live out our childhood dreams of playing cowboy - for 5 days and 4 nights we rode horses, herded sheep, and slept under the stars as they shot across the Andes. We became, as would say, Gauchitos, “little cowboys”. And while doing so we made a film about a truly inspirational human, Jorge Correas. That film is called “The Call of the Criollo”.
