🎄My photo was published in a magazine and I had zero idea! I was literally sitting on my couch scrolling Instagram and I landed on a post by about her magazine feature in and I was so excited for her that I opened her video to see which of her gorgeous photos made it in.

She flipped the page.
I leaned in.
And omg I froze! 😱

Because in the tiny little sliver on the left side of her spread I recognized my own Christmas tree photo. My actual tree. In an actual magazine. And I had no clue it was in there.

Tbh I sat there blinking at my screen like wait what. Did I just accidentally find out I was published in! 😂

I’m guessing it came from their Christmas tree contest I entered last year where I probably gave digital and print usage for my photo entry. I didn’t win that contest, so I honestly thought nothing ever came from it.

But here we are. A whole year later. And my Christmas tree styled with my vintage putz houses made its way into a magazine without me knowing!

And the wildest part is that I would’ve never known if a colleague hadn’t recommended to me because I might’ve totally missed her posts and that one video of her flipping through this magazine's pages.

So yes, I’m shocked. I’m honored. And I’m honestly really grateful. Thank you for the surprise feature and thank you for unknowingly helping me find it! Please tag her below so she sees all the love!

And because you’re here let me just say something real. Decorate anyways. Enter the contest anyways. Post the photo anyways. Your home doesn’t have to be expensive to be beautiful or magazine worthy. Sometimes the most affordable decor, the home decor diy projects, or the Christmas tree you styled on a budget ends up traveling so much further than you think. You never know who you’re inspiring or where your creativity will land. Just by existing, you are a gift! Always remember that to bring the gift of love into existence, one must give it away in order for one to receive it.💕

🎀DECK THE HALLS WITH BOWS & 2,200 lights! AI can spit out a “perfect” Christmas porch in seconds. But this? This was built minute by minute, hour by hour, day by day, with sore hands, tangled lights, research tabs open at midnight, and a whole lot of patience. This BOW-tiful porch isn’t just lit, it’s a love letter to time, effort, and doing things the hard way on purpose.

AND THAT'S WHAT MAKES IT MAGICAL. ✨

Here’s the real story behind this Christmas porch👇

This is our first Christmas with our new fence and arch arbor. I wanted it to sparkle for Christmas with cedar garland that actually looked real up close, not those scratchy 90s garlands that leave your hands wrecked and scream fake from five feet away.

My holiday decor requirements were intense 🙃
✅ 115 feet total
✅ Outdoor proof
✅ Stiff stems so it would hold its shape
✅ Thicker than average to hide string lights
✅ Affordable because I needed 115 feet of garland & decorating shouldn’t require a second mortgage

Every year I’d research garlands and walk away defeated because once you need more than a few feet, the cost gets wild fast. Most cedar garlands are 6 feet for $35 or more. Do the math and it hurts.

This year I finally found 15 foot cedar garlands for $60 each. That was the sweet spot. High end look without the luxury price tag.

But were they pre lit and plug in?! Nope!
So I wrapped 2,200 LED lights by hand. Every single strand. Over 115 feet. And because my string lights were four times longer than the cedar garlands, hanging everything took days. Actual days.

Special thanks to my husband because trying to carry and weave a 30 foot garland through an arbor is heavy, awkward, and not a solo sport.

This is why handmade human effort beats the instant AI perfection every time. This is why handmade decorating IRL always looks more impressive than something fake that was computer generated in seconds.

🍳FRYING PANS...who knew, right? The moment my decor became part of my costume 😂 Halloween costumes can get crazy expensive. And for something you wear once? Omg no thanks. This year, I wanted to have fun with it without blowing my decor or clothing budget… so I got creative.

I raided my own closet, pulled out one of my fancy dresses that made me feel like a Disney princess again, braided my hair, and wove in my floral head wrap from my hair accessories stash. The final touch? My antique frying pan from my vintage collection that I display with my home decor — because honestly, what’s Rapunzel without her trusty frying pan?

Technically, my husband dressed as Robin Hood, but tbh I’m just pretending he’s Flynn Rider. It totally worked.

That’s the thing I love about decorating and dressing up — it’s all about reimagining what you already have. Whether it’s turning a floral dress into a fairytale Disney Halloween costume or styling a hutch for fall using what’s already in your home, creativity is free… Sometimes the magic’s already in your closet or your home — it just needs a little imagination and a touch of creativity.

So this Halloween, don’t stress about spending more money. Look around your home. Your next costume might already be hanging in your closet or sitting on your shelf.

Tell me in the comments — what are you dressing up as this Halloween? And tag a friend who loves Tangled or Rapunzel too 💜✨

🎃I'M ALL ABOUT THAT BRASS🎶 Omg brass candlesticks are SOO pricy!! So a few years ago, I started thrifting & collecting vintage brass candle holders whenever I found them at low prices because I loved how warm & timeless they looked — the way that soft golden glow makes any room feel cozy. But omg, have you seen how expensive they are?! A single brass candle holder can be anywhere from $15 - $35!

So instead of giving up, I started hitting flea markets, garage sales, & thrift stores. One day, I found a brass candlestick for $2 — best. find. ever. My most expensive one? $9. But it was worth it because of the floral engraving on the chunky base & that's the kind of detail that makes home feel cozy! I’ve only found 7, but that’s what makes my brass candlestick collection feel special. Each one has a story.

Over the years, I’ve styled them on my mantel, hutch, coffee table, & entryway. But I've never just used candles. Sometimes I top them with mini pumpkins, faux florals, or ornaments depending on the season. It’s an affordable way to play with seasonal candle holder styling ideas.

For this photo, I was inspired by. It’s the first time I’m sharing my entire vintage brass candle holder collection! Should I share how I style them each season?

Here are the top 5 things to look for when buying candle holders:
1️⃣Size matters: Make sure your candle holders fit your space & taper candles properly. Too tall & it looks awkward, too short & it gets lost.
2️⃣Material: Brass metal candlesticks are durable, timeless, & add a neutral warmth that works in both farmhouse & cottage style homes.
3️⃣Function: Look for pieces that can serve multiple purposes. I love using mine for candles, pumpkins, or even mini vases.
4️⃣Condition: Vintage brass often has patina, & that’s ok! A little age adds charm and authenticity.
5️⃣Versatility: Choose neutral candle holders that can transition through seasons. They’re perfect as farmhouse candle holders or cottage style candlesticks all year.

🎃They say fall decor is expensive; I say hold my pumpkin! 🎃 I had this wild idea 3 years ago, so I started collecting vintage chairs in all my favorite colors — not because I had a plan, but because they just made my happy. The pink chair was free (yes, free!), the blue chair was only $5, and I can’t even remember what I paid for the green chair because it was that cheap.

I stacked Cinderella heirloom pumpkins on them for fun as part of my fall porch decor and omg… instant cozy fall magic. 🍁 No big spending, no matching sets, just thrifted charm and personality that felt real.

If you’ve ever felt like putting together fall decorations take too much time or money, girl, this is your sign. Find a few thrifted chairs that make you smile, stack some pumpkins in different shapes and colors, and you’ve got the easiest, fastest fall decor display that feels warm and intentional.

You don’t need to spend hundreds on matching home decor or trendy pieces. Sometimes the secret to decorating beautifully on a budget is just seeing ordinary things differently when you go thrifting at the thrift store (or dumpster diving😂) for vintage finds!

So yeah, the chairs might be chipped or falling apart and the pumpkins might not be perfect, but that’s what makes home feel cozy, charming, and collected. 🧡

🎃Save this idea for when you want to decorate for fall really fast and still make your home feel cozy, welcoming, and so you!💖

🎃Give ‘em pumpkin to talk about... without giving the neighbors nightmares! There’s a fine line between spooky-fun and just plain disturbing. People have walked past a house where a fake body hung from a tree, and omg kids cried, screamed, or ran away WITHOUT getting any candy because the realism frightened them. That’s when I decided - Halloween decorations can be creepy without crossing the line. Think a fun nostalgic pumpkin arch, cozy flickering jack-o’-lanterns, vintage Halloween decor, twinkling lights, pumpkins, and mums instead of blood and guts for your Halloween porch decor. You don’t need gore to literally make your neighbors scream or cry on Halloween!

If you’re a home decor lover who wants your space to feel festive and friendly, these nostalgic Halloween touches bring the fun back to spooky season and make your front yard feel more “storybook Halloween” than “crime scene.” And let’s be real—your neighbors will thank you!

🎃PORCH PAW-FECTION🐾🐕 Why is it that every time I step outside, my dog Callie acts like she’s the star of a Halloween movie? Tbh, she kinda is. This year's Halloween front porch is decorated with a vintage inspired pumpkin arch glowing in the soft flicker of Halloween outdoor lights, thrifted blow molds lighting up the path, and a few nostalgic retro Halloween finds that make the whole Halloween porch feel like a cozy haunted Victorian dream.

With a little creativity, a few thrift store treasures, a love for those old-school style pumpkins, and mums, I wanted a space that felt festive and budget-friendly, where every trick-or-treater (and pup) feels the Halloween magic.

The secret? Layering textures and lights. Start with a glowing base like orange string lights or solar lanterns, add one or two oversized Halloween props (that pumpkin archway steals the show every time), and finish with smaller vintage touches like a thrifted black cat figurine or retro ghost blow mold. It’s an affordable way to make your Halloween entrance totally magically enchanted!

I've been quiet on here due to spending more time taking care of our neglected outdoor space by installing a fence and re-doing our garden bed! We finally got our white picket fence installed by. We had collected 5+ quotes, but Justin blew us away with his expertise in knowing what our land survey would be before it was completed, helping us save money with referrals, and dedicating his time to take care of our needs during the whole contract proposal and installation process! This arch arbor was my number one request because we knew we wanted a special place to decorate for every season for family photos for every holiday. Thank you for bringing our vision to life!

Swipe to see Callie soaking up the October vibes, living her best spooky life (payment made in treats, of course 🦴).

Why My Christmas Decor Stays Up For Months✨ The winter season is a time to slow down, rest, and recharge—and my Christmas decor plays a big part in that! After all, it takes months to thoughtfully style holiday decorations throughout multiple rooms, so why rush to take it all down? I’m soaking up the warm glow of twinkling Christmas trees, LED candles, sconces, string lights, and fairy lights for as long as possible.

Not only does this create a cozy, inviting atmosphere, but it also helps combat seasonal depression by bringing a little extra sparkle and joy to these shorter days. There’s something magical about sitting by the window hugged by my cozy blankets with my favorite book, feeling the calm embrace of soft lighting and festive cheer.

💡 Pro Tip: Repurpose holiday lights and decor to transition into winter decor! A neutral garland, simple fairy lights, or LED candles work beautifully for the entire season.

BEST OF 2023🥳I was published in 4 magazines in 2023🤯

2023 was the first year where I focused on improving my mental health. I created a posting schedule that worked for me. I focused on quality over quantity. I tried to set better boundaries in different areas in my life.

When you take care of yourself first, it makes it easier to help others to succeed.

I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for being here, for being a part of my home decor journey, and for supporting SO MANY small shops. Whether it is through a like, comment, share, or purchase, ANY of these actions matter. Supporting SMALL shops helps in a BIG way.

Here is how:

1. Shopping small is better for the environment. Instead of shipping around the world, many rely on local resources and transportation, reducing their carbon footprint on the environment.

2. Many offer high quality, handmade, or one-of-a-kind products that you won’t find at a chain store.

3. When you shop at a local business, your money is staying within the local community, rather than being sent off to a corporate headquarters. For every $100 spent at a locally-owned business, $73 remains in the local economy. Compare that to the same $100 spent at a non-locally owned business, where only $43 remains in the local economy.

4. Most small businesses are woman-owned, which means you are financially helping women, their families, and closing the gender inequality gap.
