One of the best parts of being a wedding planner doesn’t happen until after it’s all over.

Not during the flurry of timelines or the quiet moments before walking down the aisle. Not even during the vows, the dinners, or the dance floor at its peak.

After.

I’ve always called weddings magic, and I’ll stand by that forever. The transformations, the emotion, the behind-the-scenes miracles… it’s all part of it. But the kind of magic that stays with me most happens later, when the wedding becomes a memory.

It’s the relationships that don’t end when the night does.

The updates about growing families and new cities. The messages that hold both joy and grief. The comments on each other’s posts and the DMs with restaurant recs, inside jokes, little “remember when” moments that somehow still feel close.

It never stops feeling surreal that so many of our couples choose to keep us in their lives.

I was reminded of that again this weekend when a past client reached out to say she met another Contagious couple at a bachelorette. These connections ripple further than we ever see.

The truth is, we never stop thinking about you.

Every Marathon Monday, I think about Karine and Marc, who ran the marathon and then got married that same day. The smallest wedding we’ve ever coordinated, and somehow one of the most unforgettable. Proof that scale has nothing to do with impact.

The weddings have an ending... But the magic doesn’t.

No matter how many times we design a wedding at the same venue, it will never look like anything we’ve ever done before.

Years ago, I explored hiring someone to manage this account: I was feeling the pressure to post multiple times a day to grow a following, while simultaneously keeping up with the actual work of planning weddings and maintaining a work/life balance. Long story short, I thought perhaps I could take Instagram off my plate and hand the keys to our albums to someone who could run the account for me.

It was a quick endeavor. One of the first prospective social media managers I spoke with told me my account was “hard to review” because I lacked a “brand aesthetic.”

Intrigued, I asked for more. She explained to me that my competitors had “cohesive” feeds and portfolios. “You can tell this is their work, even though the pictures are from different weddings. Your feed is a bit… schizophrenic. There’s no cohesion.”

I disagree. Our portfolio consistently shows couples who made design decisions not based on trends and tradition, but rather what made them smile. It shows cohesive expressions of joy. Grand celebrations, happy tears, and lots of energy.

Aesthetically, our weddings are different... and they should be. We design for different couples, with different stories and different backgrounds.

And if that means our feed doesn’t look like it was copied and pasted over and over again? Good.

Because the only thing we’re interested in repeating is the feeling, not the formula.

🎀 Our Galentine’s Day Drag Bingo event was a total hit! Thanks to everyone who came, and everybody who made this possible. We had so much fun celebrating with signature themed drinks, delicious food, and amazing performances by and 💌 This was truly a night to remember!

Event Team:
It’s no secret that I believe the most meaningful wedding design is personal.

Your ceremony space should tell a story: one where guests walk in and instantly feel exactly whose wedding they’re witnessing… not because they read the invitation, but because the room feels like you.

But I have a confession:

Sometimes I know the design before I know the couple.

I’ve been dreaming of Kim and Cam’s candlelit ceremony for years, just waiting for the right couple, the right setting, and the right light.

Because a design like this needs all three.

Truthfully, I wanted to create this moment during an earlier editorial… but Mother Nature had other plans. (Glass candelabras + wind don’t mix.)

Kim and Cam, thank you for trusting this vision so completely. You were the perfect match for it.

And absolutely brought it to life.

This is your sign to design for feeling, not tradition.

Kim and Cam's wedding this past Saturday in Salem, MA at the stunning Peabody Essex Museum was nothing but joy and warmth despite the impending winter storm! The vendor team was truly fantastic and every part of the day was seamless, and never took away from the couple getting to be present with their loved ones and each other. Prepare to see tons more from this day!!

With all that’s going on in the world, and quite a few new followers over the past couple of weeks, I thought it would be a good time to remind everyone who we are, as a brand.

If you've been around, you know that we're the type of wedding planner that believes drag queens belong at weddings. Bonus points if it’s a total surprise and you have shock the crowd with an epic number in a dazzling blue gown.

But zoom out a little further and it’s this:

We believe weddings, and social gatherings of every kind, should be joyful, affirming, and unapologetically inclusive. We believe in chosen family. In loud love. In rooms where everyone gets to exhale.

We believe no human is illegal.

We believe safe spaces are not optional. They’re the baseline.

We believe the world is categorically better with you in it, exactly as you are.

If that makes you uncomfortable, we’re probably not your people.

If that makes you feel seen, celebrated, and ready to dance… welcome.

This is what luxury looks like to us: care, intention, and a damn good party.

Lately, I’ve been having more and more conversations with couples who brought our team on after they had already started planning (side note: our design and management package, Hootenanny, continues to be our most popular offering, and this post shows exactly why).

One of the things I love most about this work is that no two weddings are ever the same. There are constants, sure, but the industry evolves quickly, and every couple brings a new set of ideas, priorities, and challenges. It keeps us sharp.

Something I'm noticing this year with couples who got a head start on their own is how often they apologize.

They apologize for not remembering every detail of every vendor conversation before we joined the team.

They apologize for not knowing the rules around postage, invitation embellishments, or which stamp works for a square envelope.

They apologize for asking for help with things they worry might fall outside the contract.

They apologize for delayed email replies.

The list goes on. And our response is always the same: you do not need to apologize.

Getting married is not a test you’re supposed to pass. You’re allowed to be busy. You’re allowed to have a life outside of your wedding. You’re allowed to feel overwhelmed, burnt out, or ready to hand things over for a bit. None of that makes you bad at planning or difficult to work with. It means you did the smart thing by bringing in support.

We love when our couples are involved. You make the decisions. You choose the vendors. You tell us what you love and what you absolutely do not. We’re in constant conversation together and we'll guide you to the right choices for you. But sometimes life gets loud, and protecting your time and energy matters more than knowing every detail at any given moment.

So, please know that if you are in the thick of planning and feeling overwhelmed, you can take a time out. You can press pause. You can take a step back and re-energize, but please... do not apologize:)

Maddie, a world-traveling Getty sports photographer, and Nick, a charming MIT athletics director and international ultimate frisbee champion, matched on Bumble just days before she flew to South Korea to cover the 2018 PyeongChang Olympics. Even with thousands of miles between them, Nick was determined to stay connected. He texted Maddie every single day while she was away, and was waiting at the airport when she landed back in Boston. The rest was history 🥹

They share a deep love for athletics and a fiery (but playful) competitive spirit, a kind of team mentality that’s woven into their relationship and the way they show up for each other. Maddie and Nick wanted a celebration that felt joyful, unfussy, and full of genuine moments with all their favorite people, and getting married at MIT felt like the perfect fit – a place that reflects their love story, their connection to campus, and love for the city they chose to build their life together.

And of course, it wouldn’t be complete without those gorgeous sparkling skyline views of Boston across the Charles River! 🌃
