The connections I made that year are still strong today- I’ll be at May’s wedding in 4 months 😭!
I knew my relationship with food was disordered and I was trying very hard to get out of it all while sharing it with the internet. It didn’t help that the dietetic curriculum was (and still is) steeped in fat phobia and restrictive recommendations. I was confused but started to really speak out on how much that pissed me off.
I ate a lot of “cardboard cookies” as my dad called them and way too many salads. A lot of life has happened in 10 years and I’m happy to be here now!
However, in this weight and diet obsessed culture, pretty much everyone has a little disordered eating and a recommendation from a clinician has the ability to improve or worsen someone’s relationship with food and body for the long term.
A big benefit of seeing a weight neutral RD is the improvement of one’s relationship with food and body in addition to the mitigation of the diagnosis you came to see us for ☺️
