This guy is the reason i’m where I am today. He’s had my back in this game called life from day one. He always backed me in everything and anything, no matter what.
Back when I was starting out as a musician i’ll never forget I got my first big gig in London, but it was unpaid. Instead of turning it down ‘cause I couldn’t afford the train and hotel, he drove me ten hours around, there and back, and just sat in the car outside the club. Zero fucks given, he just wanted to help me win.
When I started getting booked internationally but I was scared of flying due to suffering from anxiety attacks he’d take time off work and travel with me just to make sure I was all good and I did the shows. He didn’t ask for anything in return.
Back when I was at university, at the bottom of my -£3,000 overdraft unable to buy food and pay my phone bill etc, I called him asking for help and he bank transferred me £150 to see me through, which felt like £1,500 to me back then. Again, just small things but he always had my back.
Ever since I was young he’s gone on about wanting a Porsche, but my family have never been rich. He could never afford one, especially after putting me, my brother and my Mum first. He’s rarely ever treat himself. He’s always put us before him.
I always said if I ever did well in life i’d help him achieve his dream. And today, after a seven month wait between ordering the car and then it being manufactured and delivered, we picked up his brand new Macan from the Porsche garage together.
He’s the happiest Dad alive.
