A damp & grey Monday is so much better when there is a big old buttery croissant involved!

As part of our Fuddle! exhibition we invited to bring her bears to the party and here they are enjoying GIANT croissants!

Beth writes: “When I was little, my grandparents lived in France. When we visited, my Grandpa and I would visit the local bakery every morning. My work is based on my memory of the croissants which I remember being ginormous. The trip to the bakery, and the croissants, will always hold fond memories of my Grandpa”.

Beth has also dropped off some lovely new cards and prints at the shop so swing by and have a nose.
Fuddle! closes on the 18th January so you only have 6 more days to feast your eyes.

Need something to lichen-up a dull January day, well this joyful little guide might just be thing to do it.

Lichen, by ace illustrator Rob Hodgson, brings us a beginner’s guide to some of the most ancient, mysterious and beautiful organisms on the planet.

Part fungi, part algae - these curious, symbiotic and hardy life-forms are all around us, on the bark of trees, clustered on rocks and sprouting from the soil. Inside this super bright guide, you’ll find examples of some of our most common lichens all brought to fun-filled life by Rob’s wonderful characters.
Are you ready to look at a picture of meat and cheese? We have had a full week clear of buffets so I reckon it’s time to revisit the Fuddle!

This DELICIOUS Giclee print by Lauren Martin - “Fuddle Buddies” is Lauren’s submission to our Fuddle! exhibition.
Lauren writes: “I love a snack plate, and sharing a snack plate with friends over a bottle of wine is the perfect way to catch up. Everything’s better when you’re devouring an entire wedge of cheese.

Amen to that!
The Shelf is the creation of Helen Hancocks, an illustrator, bookshop owner (do check ) and publisher residing in Lincoln. Shelf does a fantastic thing, it holds up the picture book as a work of art deserving of criticism, focus and our attention.

Issue three is chock full of interviews, profiles, reviews and articles, all closely circling the vibrant world of illustration. A perfect (and chunky) read for anyone interested in the field of illustrated children’s books, whether that’s reading them, producing them, or, like us, selling them.
Dog only knows... what we’d be without you…

Doesn’t every dog owner want to have their four-legged friend captured in oil as if by an Old Master? British artist and illustrator Alison ‘McFriendly’ Friend has, through her beautiful and characterful paintings of beanie wearing, pizza eating, cola drinking, Rubik Cube solving pooches, created a world where dogs’ human-like traits come to the fore.

This beautiful hardback book is full of Alison’s incredible dog paintings, each illuminating the secret lives of our beloved pets and capturing their personalities perfectly.

Fuddle! Launches November 6th 6-8pm.

…Up until the late 90’s I had never heard the word ‘Fuddle’, but then I got an office job in Leeds and there it was!

It turned out that ‘fuddle’, In Yorkshire at least, meant that there was to be a communal gathering, a celebration.
Sometimes a fuddle was a good old beige buffet affair, sometimes folk showed off a bit and brought in home-made cakes or posh dips, but to me it was always a lovely communal thing, and as it turned out, something that wasn’t just confined to offices and workplaces but to village halls and allotments too; essentially anywhere that folk gathered with a common focus. It may be called something else where you live, but to me it will now always be “fuddle!” - a delicious call to action!

So to celebrate our 13th Birthday we have invited 15 artists to Fuddle!
Fuddle is an exhibition of work in celebration of food and community.
