Trust me I’ve experienced bad skin - 20+ years of acne, sensitive, eczematous skin. Then also going through major metabolic burdens on the body like stage 3 cancer, cancer treatments and extreme hormonal shifts like menopause in my mid-30s, I feel pretty comfortable saying that maintaining a focus on skin barrier integrity has helped my skin and overall appearance move through these experiences fairly well.
I create this line for myself, as much as I created it for you too.
I am my own Guinea pig, I know what these products can do, I’ve put them through the ringer with my own health challenges & life experiences and came out the other side being able to stand confidently behind them.

I created this line because of this issue I was seeing in the skincare industry - it’s not about the actives necessarily, it’s about the base ingredients that make up our skincare products and what they’re actually doing to our skin barriers over time.
Two simple tips: choose proper cleansing agents in your cleanser and emulsifiers in your face creams/creamy serums that aren’t going to strip or compromise your skin barrier. It’s the simplest and probably the most important part of healing a skin barrier.

I started taking courses in something called CORNEOTHERAPY, which is the study of the skin cells and skin barrier. The more I dove into this, I became increasingly confused why the skincare industry uses such an abundance of ingredients that don’t biochemically make sense. It’s as if the industry forgot that the whole point of skincare is to improve and/or enhance skin health.
My personal biggest concern with many products on the market is the choice of emulsifiers and surfactants that are used. These two ingredient types are the less sexy part of a formula, the stuff that doesn’t get near as much attention as the actives but matter a lot to the overall health of your skin cells and skin barrier.
While cosmetic chemistry and its respect for skin cell biology is improving (there are new ingredients coming onto the market all the time from cosmetic manufacturers), the industry still has a long way to go.
So is COLE Skin just like any other skincare line? If you don’t understand this vital overlap of cosmetic chemistry with skin cell biology, you might not notice the critical differences in the formulations. And trust me, I wouldn’t have even bothered to undertake creating this company if I didn’t think what it provided was necessary.
