von Clemens Porikys mit Texten von Lisa Arensen, die das Leben indigener Gemeinschaften in Kambodscha im Spannungsfeld von Tradition, Geschichte und
rasantem Wandel beleuchtet. Porikys begleitet die Forschungsarbeit der Anthropologin
Arensen in den nordöstlichen Provinzen an der Grenze zu Laos und Vietnam, wo die kleine indigene Minderheit des Landes vorwiegend lebt.
In der Provinz Mondulkiri besuchen sie das Volk der Bunong, dessen Lebensweise eng mit
dem Wald verbunden ist. Die Bunong betreiben traditionelle Wanderfeldwirtschaft, nutzen
gemeinschaftlich Land und beziehen Nahrung, Spiritualität und Identität aus ihrer
natürlichen Umgebung. Doch wirtschaftliche Entwicklung, Landraub und Migration setzen
ihre Lebensgrundlagen zunehmend unter Druck. Die indigene Aktivistin Rome steht in der
Reportage exemplarisch für den Widerstand der Bevölkerung im Kampf um ihre Rechte
und den Schutz des Waldes.
Ein zweiter Fokus der Ausstellung liegt auf dem namensgebenden heiligen Berg der
Provinz Phnom Kulen. Während der Kriege in Kambodscha war dieses Hochplateau von
Gewalt und Vertreibung geprägt. Heute ist es ein wichtiger Pilgerort und wird zunehmend
touristisch erschlossen. Der Bau einer modernen Straße bringt einerseits bessere
Anbindung und wirtschaftliche Chancen, verändert aber zugleich Landschaft, spirituelle
Orte und das Leben der lokalen indigenen Bevölkerung. Clemens Porikys porträtiert
Hebammen, deren traditionelle Geburtshilfe im häuslichen, rituell geprägten Umfeld
aufgrund staatlicher Gesundheitsreformen ausstirbt. Durch das Gebären in Kliniken sinkt
die Sterblichkeit, doch geht zugleich ein bedeutender Teil kulturellen Wissens und sozialer
Praxis verloren.
Die Fotografien der Ausstellung machen sichtbar, wie eng Fragen von Land, Kultur,
Spiritualität und Identität miteinander verwoben sind – und wie indigene Gemeinschaften
zwischen Anpassung, Verlust und Widerstand ihren Platz in einer sich schnell
verändernden Welt behaupten.
Die Ausstellung ist vom 12. bis 16. April 2026 jeweils von 15 bis 18 Uhr geöffnet.
